Ein V4, den sonst niemand baute
Als die RSV4 2009 erschien, bestand die Liter-Superbike-Klasse aus Reihenvierzylindern und einem Zweizylinder. Aprilia baute einen 65-Grad-V4 mit 999,6 cm³, schmal genug, um wie ein Zweizylinder zu bauen, und laut auf eine Art, die keiner der Rivalen nachahmen konnte.
Fünfundsechzig Grad, nicht neunzig
Die schmale V-Form hält den Motor von vorne bis hinten kurz, was Aprilia erlaubte, die Kurbelwelle dort zu platzieren, wo das Fahrwerk es wollte, statt wo der Motor es verlangte. Das erzeugt auch das Zündintervall, das dem Bike seine Stimme gibt.
Universelles Lochbild
Das Spannmuster nimmt sowohl den Original-Hauptbremszylinder als auch die gängigen Radial-Einheiten aus dem Zubehör auf. Fahrer, die bereits einen Brembo RCS montiert haben, brauchen keine zweite Artikelnummer, was der ganze Sinn der Lösung ist.
Was der Serienschalter ist
Spritzguss-Kunststoff mit aufgedruckter Beschriftung und Kontakten, die hinter einer Schnappdeckel-Abdeckung liegen. Er funktioniert jahrelang und entwickelt dann eine zeitweise ausfallende Funktion, worauf Aprilia die komplette Einheit verkauft und nicht nur den Knopf.
Gefräst statt gespritzt
Dieser hier ist aus einem einzigen Block Ergal 7075 gefräst, mit innen versiegelten Schaltelementen. Es gibt keine Nahtstelle, durch die Wasser eindringen kann, und keinen Clip, der nach einem Jahrzehnt V4-Vibrationen seine Spannung verliert.
Drei eloxierte Oberflächen
Schwarz, rot und titanfarben, alle in das Aluminium eingebracht statt aufgesprüht. Ein gestürztes Bike zerkratzt die Oberfläche, statt blankes Metall durch eine abgeplatzte Beschichtung freizulegen.
Keine Verkabelungsarbeit
Der Kabelbaum endet im Original-Steckverbinder von Aprilia. Der alte Block wird abgezogen, der neue aufgesteckt, und danach ist nichts zu spleißen, zu löten oder vom Display zu löschen.
