Die geschäftigere Seite des Lenkers
An einer modernen BMW leistet die linke Hand mehr als die rechte. Blinker, Hupe, Fernlicht, das Menürad und die Modusbestätigung sitzen alle dort, und bei der Generation K46 kam die Displaynavigation in derselben Schaltereinheit hinzu, ohne dass das Gehäuse größer wurde. Das Ergebnis ist eine dichte Anordnung von Bedienelementen, die auch mit Handschuh eindeutig bleiben muss.
Warum genau diese Generation
Die K46 von 2015 bis 2018 hat einen eigenen linken Stecker und eine eigene Tastenzahl und unterscheidet sich damit sowohl vom Modell von 2009 davor als auch von der ShiftCam-Maschine danach. Wer die Schaltereinheit der falschen Generation montiert, erhält einen Schalter, der perfekt sitzt, aber nicht mit dem Motorrad kommuniziert. Deshalb ist die Baujahrspanne bei diesem Teil enger als bei der rechten Einheit.
Gefräst statt gespritzt
Die Originaleinheit ist ein zweiteiliges Spritzgussteil, das um den Lenker geklemmt wird. Mit der Zeit bekommen die Hälften Spiel, und die Tasten, die über der Fuge sitzen, fühlen sich zunehmend schwammig an. Ein Gehäuse aus dem Vollen hat in dieser Ebene keine Fuge. An einem neuen Motorrad ist das ein kleiner Unterschied, an einer zehn Jahre alten Rennstreckenmaschine ein sehr deutlicher.
Vier Eloxalfarben
Schwarz, Blau, Rot und Titanfarben, alle eloxiert statt lackiert. An einer RR in BMWs eigener Motorsport-Lackierung greifen Blau und Rot vorhandene Akzente der Verkleidung auf. Schwarz verschwindet vollständig, und dafür entscheiden sich die meisten Besitzer der schlichteren Farbvarianten.
