Die XSR700 ist die MT-07 im zeitgemäßen Gewand. Der JP PLS 053 ersetzt ihren linken Schalter durch ein aus Ergal 7075 gefrästes Gehäuse.

Sportliches Erbe
Yamaha hat Chassis und Motor der MT-07 genommen und sie in gebürstetes Aluminium, einen runden Scheinwerfer und eine flache Sitzbank gekleidet. Die XSR700 ist weniger eine Retro-Nachbildung als ein geradlinig gebautes Motorrad, von dem der Kunststoff entfernt wurde, und genau darin liegt ihr Reiz.
Metall, wo man es sieht
Die seitlichen Tankverkleidungen sind aus Aluminium, die Schutzbleche aus Metall, und die Details bleiben bewusst unlackiert. In diesem Umfeld ist das spritzgegossene Schaltergehäuse das eine Bauteil, das das Baujahr verrät.
Hier gehört ein gefrästes Bauteil hin
Bedienelemente an den Motorrädern, auf die sich die XSR bezieht, waren aus Metall gefertigt. Ein eloxiertes, aus dem Vollen gefrästes Aluminiumgehäuse gibt nicht vor, ein Originalteil aus jener Zeit zu sein, und es fügt sich neben gebürstete Verkleidungsteile deutlich besser ein als spritzgegossener Kunststoff.
Vier Eloxal-Farben
Blau, Rot, Titan und Schwarz. Titan ist die naheliegende Wahl gegen das rohe Aluminium der XSR; Blau greift das Yamaha-Rennfarbschema an den Motorrädern auf, die es tragen.
Der Original-Schalter
Zwei um den Lenker geclipste Spritzgussteile, geteilt mit der MT-07 und mehreren anderen Modellen. Er funktioniert einwandfrei und ist das Bauteil, das sich an einem Motorrad, das sonst Materialqualität zur Tugend macht, am billigsten anfühlt.

Moderne Klassiker sammeln in Europa echte Kilometer, statt drinnen zu stehen. Abgedichtete Elemente in einem Gehäuse ohne Formnaht halten die Bedienelemente über mehrere Winter hinweg präzise.
Drei Modelljahre
Die Passform deckt 2016 bis 2018 ab, vor der Euro-4-Überarbeitung, die Beleuchtung und Instrumente veränderte. Das spätere Motorrad benötigt ein anderes Bauteil.
