DescriptionThe whole story▼
For the 2006 to 2016 R6, the JP PS YA042 replaces the left-hand switch with a body machined from Ergal 7075.
Key Features
- Yamaha R6 (2006–2016)
- Full street control set
- Black anodised
- CNC-milled Ergal 7075
- Sealed switch elements
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
Seventeen and a Half Thousand RPM
The 2006 R6 revved higher than any production four-cylinder motorcycle before it, and Yamaha built the whole machine around that. It defined what a supersport bike sounded like for a decade and it is still the reason people seek these out.
Eleven Model Years
Yamaha left the fundamentals alone from 2006 to 2016, changing details rather than architecture. That produced an enormous population of very similar motorcycles and an aftermarket that has had twenty years to develop.
A Simple Cluster
No ride-by-wire, no traction control, no menus. Indicators, horn and beam, which means the buttons can be larger and further apart than on any modern supersport machine. It suits a bike operated in racing gloves.
Twenty-Year-Old Plastic
Nothing on the original housing breaks. The material hardens, the clipped halves work apart and the buttons across the joint go soft. Yamaha does not sell the individual contacts, so the assembly is the only route back.
Where These Bikes Live
Almost entirely on circuits. A supersport machine of this age has little appeal as a road bike and a great deal as a track one, and the conversions tend to be thorough rather than half-hearted.
Sealed Against the Wash Bay
Sealed elements inside a one-piece body. Track bikes are cleaned hot after every session, and the joint in a moulded assembly is exactly where a jet washer finds a way in.
Black Anodised
One finish on this part number, converted into the surface rather than applied. It dulls with age rather than chipping, which on a bike this old is the more useful property.
