Sportbike-Optik, alltagstaugliche Sitzposition
Die 8R setzt eine Vollverkleidung auf die 8S-Plattform und montiert die Lenkerstummel über statt unter der oberen Gabelbrücke. Aus zehn Metern Entfernung sieht das Ergebnis wie eine Supersportmaschine aus, ohne den Fahrer zusammenzuklappen – genau der Kompromiss, den ein großer Teil des Marktes gesucht hat.
Die linke Schaltereinheit an einem modernen Mittelklasse-Bike
Blinker, Hupe, Lichthupe und das TFT-Menü. An einem Motorrad, das wochentags zum Pendeln und am Wochenende auf der Rennstrecke genutzt wird, summieren sich die Betätigungen der linken Bedienelemente schnell, und das serienmäßige Kunststoffteil wird dabei so allmählich weicher, dass sich der Fahrer eher daran gewöhnt, als es zu bemerken.
Hinter einer Verkleidung, trotzdem exponiert
Die Scheibe leitet die Luft über die Brust des Fahrers, nicht um die Hände herum. Bei starkem Regen erreicht das Wasser den Lenker trotzdem, läuft am Lenkerstummel herunter und gelangt zu den Schaltern. Ein abgedichtetes, einteiliges Gehäuse entscheidet, ob das eine Rolle spielt oder nicht.
Ein neues Modell, ein dünner Zubehörmarkt
Die 8R kam erst 2024 auf den Markt, und das verfügbare Zubehör ist noch begrenzt. Das macht solide konstruierte Komponenten bemerkenswert, sobald sie erscheinen, anstatt ein Teil zu verwenden, das für eine andere Suzuki gedacht war.
Zwei eloxierte Oberflächen
Schwarz und Titanfarben. An einem verkleideten Motorrad, bei dem weniger vom Rahmen sichtbar ist, ist Schwarz meist die unauffälligere Wahl, während Titanfarben das Bauteil als bewusste Entscheidung kennzeichnet.
Der 776er-Zweizylinder
Suzukis Cross-Balancer-Anordnung verleiht dem Reihenzweizylinder eine Zündcharakteristik, die einem V2 näherkommt, ohne dessen Bauraumnachteile. Das ist der Grund, warum sich die 8R interessanter anfühlt, als es ihr Hubraum vermuten lässt, und warum die Plattform in einer wachsenden Modellreihe eingesetzt wird.
In einer Stunde montiert
Griff und Lenkerendgewicht werden abgenommen, die alte Schaltereinheit folgt, und die neue wird über Suzukis eigenen Steckverbinder montiert. Es wird nichts gespleißt, und keine Codierung ist nötig, was die Sache bei einem Motorrad innerhalb der Garantiezeit unkompliziert macht.
