One Part Across Two Displacements
JetPrime lists this block for the 457 and the 660 alike. Aprilia uses a common bar diameter, a common bracket and a common plug across the Tuono family, and the switch does not care what is behind the tank.
Kayaba at Both Ends
The Factory's forks and shock adjust for preload, compression and rebound. Setting them properly turns a good motorcycle into a noticeably better one, and the owners who bother are the owners who then look at everything else.
Cruise on a Ninety-Five Horsepower Naked
Aprilia fitted it and then integrated it with the riding modes, so it disengages predictably rather than abruptly. On a bike that covers real distances this becomes one of the most-pressed controls on the motorcycle.
Ten Thousand Five Hundred Revs
The 659 cc twin peaks far higher than a parallel twin of this size usually does, because it inherited the RSV4's bore and stroke. It rewards being worked hard, which most of the class actively discourages.
Ergal 7075, Not Aluminium Generally
The alloy is a zinc-bearing aerospace grade with roughly double the yield strength of the 6000 series used in most machined accessories. It costs more to cut and it does not deform when a bike goes down.
What Actually Fails
The mechanism outlives the contact underneath it. Moisture arrives through the moulded seam, sits against a terminal through a winter and corrodes it, and the symptom appears the following spring as a switch that works when it feels like it.
Black or Titanium
Anodising converts the top layer of the metal rather than sitting on top of it. A scuff dulls the finish; it does not lift it off, and there is no printed legend underneath to disappear.
Fifteen Minutes
Bar end, grip, two fasteners, one connector. The loom terminates in Aprilia's own plug, so the whole exchange is mechanical and the electronics are never told about it.
A Chassis That Cannot Be Changed
The swingarm bolts to the engine and there is no rear subframe, which is why the Factory weighs 183 kilograms and why almost nothing about its geometry can be altered afterwards. Owners who want to improve the motorcycle end up at the components they can reach, and the handlebar is the first place they arrive.
