Zwei Generationen, ein Schalter
Die Spanne umfasst das Bike von 2006 mit seiner Drehzahlgrenze bei 17.500 U/min und die Maschine von 2017 mit R1-Verkleidung und Ride-by-Wire. Das sind durchaus unterschiedliche Motorräder, und der Schalter passt an beide, weil er auf das Dashboard reagiert und nicht auf Yamaha.
Der Supersport-Standard
Mehr Klubniveau-Supersport-Maschinen werden aus R6 aufgebaut als aus irgendetwas anderem. Das Fahrwerk ist die Referenz, die Teile sind überall erhältlich, und der Bestand ist groß genug, dass Setup-Wissen frei geteilt wird.
Daten an ein Bike ohne jede Elektronik
Die R6 von 2006 teilt dem Fahrer außer Geschwindigkeit und Drehzahl nichts mit. Ein I2M-System einzubauen liefert Rundenzeiten, Sektorsplits und Fahrwerksverläufe, was an einer Maschine ohne eigene Elektronik ein deutlich größerer Schritt ist als dasselbe System an einem modernen Bike.
Sport-Bedienset
Weniger Funktionen als ein Straßen-Cockpit, mehr als eine entkernte Superbike-Einheit. Das ist die Anordnung, die die meisten Trackday-Fahrer am Ende bevorzugen, weil ein komplett leeres Cockpit an einem Bike, das noch nach Hause gefahren wird, wenig hilfreich ist.
Der Rennkabelbaum
Yamahas Serienverkabelung kann diesen Schalter nicht ansteuern. Der Kabelbaum muss ersetzt werden, was die Beleuchtungskreise und die Wegfahrsperre samt einem nennenswerten Gewicht an Kabeln entfernt.
Versiegelt gegen heißes Waschen
Versiegelte Elemente in einem aus einem Block gefrästen Gehäuse. Supersport-Maschinen werden nach jeder Session gereinigt, häufig mit einem Wasserstrahl und häufig noch warm.
Schwarz eloxiert
Eine einzige Oberfläche, in das Material umgewandelt statt darauf aufgetragen. An einer renntauglich vorbereiteten R6 ist das ohnehin die Wahl, die die meisten Fahrer treffen würden.
