Ein Cruiser mit ER-6-Motor
Kawasaki setzte den Reihenzweizylinder mit 649 cm³ in ein niedriges Fahrwerk mit vorverlegter Fußrastenanlage, und heraus kam ein Cruiser, der sich tatsächlich gut fahren lässt.
Ergo-Fit
Kawasaki bietet Sitzbänke, Lenker und Fußrasten in drei Größen an, sodass sich das Motorrad an den Fahrer anpassen lässt. Nur sehr wenige Hersteller machen sich diese Mühe, und es funktioniert.
Rückbaubar
Das Seriengehäuse wird mit seinen eigenen Schrauben und ohne neue Dichtungen wieder montiert, sodass der Motor bei Bedarf jederzeit in den Serienzustand zurückkehrt.
Vor jedem Mapping
Luft, die nach der Verbrennung in den Auspuff gelangt, verschiebt die Messwerte, und jede Entscheidung zur Gemischabstimmung, die auf diesen Werten beruht, übernimmt diese Verschiebung.
Zwanzig Minuten, wenn alles frei liegt
Die eigentliche Arbeit ist kurz. Der Rest des Aufwands besteht darin, Tank und Airbox aus dem Weg zu räumen.
Älterer Zylinderkopf, Vorsicht mit den Gewinden
An einer Maschine, die älter als ein Jahrzehnt ist, sind die Gewinde lange nicht bewegt worden. Langsam und sauber zu arbeiten lohnt die paar zusätzlichen Minuten, die es kostet.
Was eine gerissene Membran anrichtet
Sie dichtet in einer Richtung nicht mehr ab und lässt Abgas zurück in Richtung Airbox strömen. Die Rückstände überziehen den Filtereinsatz und werden meist bei der Suche nach etwas anderem entdeckt.
Was eine Prüfung sehen würde
Originale Schrauben an originalen Positionen, eine unversehrte Dichtfläche und eine Verschlussplatte, die in wenigen Minuten wieder ab ist. Nichts daran ist dauerhaft oder versteckt.
Ein Cruiser, dem niemand gutes Handling zugetraut hätte
Der Zweizylinder der ER-6 in einem niedrigen Fahrwerk ergab ein Motorrad, das deutlich besser lenkt als seine Konkurrenten, und Besitzer fahren es meist härter, als die Optik vermuten lässt. Das verändert, worauf es unter dem Tank ankommt.
