Kardanantrieb
Nichts einzustellen oder zu schmieren, und das ist auf einem Motorrad, das Kontinente durchqueren soll, deutlich mehr wert als das Gewicht, das es kostet.
Dreihundertvier Kilogramm
Fahrfertig, was enorm ist, doch das Gewicht liegt so tief, dass die GTR es oberhalb von Schritttempo gut kaschiert.
Ein O-Ring statt Dichtmasse
Die Verbindung lässt sich auch Jahre später sauber trennen, ohne dass etwas von der Dichtfläche abgekratzt werden muss, was auf nichts zutrifft, das mit Dichtpaste eingesetzt wurde.
Zulassung
Wo das System verbaut ist, ist es Teil der Typgenehmigung des Motorrads, und sein Ausbau macht die Maschine in diesen Märkten zu einem Wettbewerbsfahrzeug.
Montage bei kaltem Motor
Es gibt keinen Grund, das an einem warmen Motor zu versuchen, und jeden Grund, es zu lassen. Aluminiumgewinde und heiße Gussteile sind eine schlechte Kombination.
Auch die Airbox-Seite erledigen
Ein offener Anschluss im Ansaugtrakt ist ein schlechteres Ergebnis, als es das System je war, deshalb gehören beide Enden im selben Arbeitsgang verschlossen statt in zwei getrennten.
Was eine gerissene Membran anrichtet
Sie dichtet in einer Richtung nicht mehr ab und lässt Abgas zurück in Richtung Airbox strömen. Die Rückstände überziehen den Filtereinsatz und werden meist bei der Suche nach etwas anderem entdeckt.
Nichts Tragendes
Das Gehäuse trägt keine Last, und sein Ausbau berührt weder die Abdichtung noch die Kühlung des Zylinderkopfs. Es ist wirklich ein reines Anbauteil.
Ein Tourer mit ZZR-Herz
Die GTR trägt eine zahmer abgestimmte Version von Kawasakis schnellstem Motor und zeigt deshalb im Schiebebetrieb dieselbe Abgascharakteristik wie ihr schnelleres Geschwister. Besitzer bemerken das bei langen Bergabfahrten.
Zweiundzwanzig Liter
Genug für echte Distanzen bei den Geschwindigkeiten, zu denen eine GTR fähig ist, und genau das unterscheidet einen Tourer von einem schnellen Motorrad mit angeschraubtem Gepäck.
