A Quickshifter as Standard
Fitted where the R had none, and one of the practical reasons buyers chose the RX over the model it was based on.
The R Chassis
Adjustable suspension and Brembo brakes carried straight over, so the RX is an R with different bodywork and one extra feature.
The Interlock
Triumph stops the engine if a gear is selected while the stand is extended. It is a straightforward protection against a mistake that catches experienced riders.
A Repair as Much as a Modification
Some of these are fitted by owners who have replaced the switch twice and decided not to do it a third time. That is a different decision and an entirely reasonable one.
A Bent Bracket Looks the Same
A drop on the left can move the switch out of position without damaging it, and the symptoms are identical to a failure.
Why the Position Is Unavoidable
The switch has to sense the stand, so it has to live where the stand lives, which is the lowest and dirtiest part of the motorcycle. No manufacturer has found a better answer and Triumph is not alone in the compromise.
Mud on a Trail Bike
The mechanism packs solid on a wet green lane, and a packed switch reports a deployed stand entirely on its own. Owners of the larger Tigers meet this more often than anybody else.
Five Minutes, Genuinely
The connector sits near the swingarm pivot and needs no bodywork removed to reach. It is the shortest job on any preparation list and it is the one that has to happen first.
Sealed Rather Than Open
The eliminator is potted, so the connector stays as protected from water as it was with the original switch in place.
