The JP ES 022 is the passive answer to the Monster 1200 S's side stand circuit: nothing powered, nothing configured and nothing that can behave differently in the wet.

Forged Wheels
Fitted to the S, taking rotating mass out where it counts. On a bike with this much torque it sharpens the steering considerably.
Or Simply Bent
On a loaded motorcycle it happens, and a replacement is not always to hand. Removing the assembly is sometimes the practical answer.
What Failure Looks Like
The engine cuts as a gear is selected at a junction, restarts perfectly in neutral and behaves for a fortnight afterwards. It is the intermittency that makes it so unpleasant to trace.

An Intermittent Fault Wastes Weekends
Owners lose entire days to a switch that refuses to misbehave in a workshop, which is why so many simply remove the assembly instead.
What the Side Stand Switch Does
It tells the controller whether the stand is down, and the controller uses that to cut the engine if a gear is selected with the stand still deployed. It is a genuinely useful safety interlock on a road motorcycle and the reason it exists is a very common and expensive mistake.
Why Switches Fail
The unit sits at the bottom of the motorcycle, on the left, directly in the path of everything the front wheel picks up. Salt gets into it, a pressure washer finishes the job, and the contacts eventually read intermittently. The symptom is an engine that cuts out on a left-hand bend, which is memorable.
