Einen Ersatz mitführen
Fahrer, die weit weg fahren, führen manchmal einen Ersatzschalter mit. Ein Eliminator wiegt weniger und klärt die Frage dauerhaft statt nur einmal.
Warum die Position nicht geändert werden kann
Der Schalter muss den Ständer erfassen, also sitzt er dort, wo der Ständer sitzt – an der niedrigsten und schmutzigsten Stelle des Motorrads.
Eine abgedichtete, verklebte Einheit
Wasser und Salz erreichen den Schwingenlagerpunkt mehr als fast jede andere Stelle am Motorrad, weshalb der Eliminator geschlossen statt offen gebaut ist.
Schlamm an einem Adventure-Bike
Der Mechanismus setzt sich auf nasser Strecke komplett zu und meldet von selbst einen ausgefahrenen Ständer. Ihn auszuwaschen verschafft eine oder zwei Fahrten Ruhe, dann kehrt der Fehler zurück.
Warum nicht einfach den Stecker überbrücken
Eine Büroklammer und etwas Klebeband liefern dasselbe Ergebnis – bis sie es nicht mehr tun. Der Stecker sitzt an der nassesten, schmutzigsten Stelle des Motorrads, und eine wacklige Überbrückung führt zu einem Motor, der unvorhersehbar abschaltet, was erheblich schlimmer ist als der Fehler, den sie verdecken sollte.
Die Position des Steckers
Er sitzt tief und vorn links, meist erreichbar, sobald eine Bauchverkleidung oder ein Seitenteil ab ist, gelegentlich auch ohne irgendetwas abzunehmen. Unabhängig vom Modell sollte der Eliminator festgebunden werden, statt dort zu hängen, wo die Kette ihn erreichen kann.
