Ein Supersport-Fahrwerk
Yamaha setzte den CP2-Zweizylinder in einen Stahlrahmen mit Lenkerstummeln und Vollverkleidung. Die R7 ist kein Ersatz für die 600er und wurde auch nie als solcher verkauft.
Hier beginnt die Vorbereitung
Spiegel, Blinker, Kennzeichen und Ständer. Der Ständer nimmt seinen Schalter mit, und danach verweigert das Motorrad mit eingelegtem Gang den Dienst.
Den Stromkreis wiederherstellen
Diese Einheit stellt den Zustand bereit, den das Steuergerät von einem eingeklappten Ständer erwartet. Der Motor läuft normal, und das Display meldet überhaupt nichts.
Hundertachtundachtzig Kilogramm
Vollgetankt. Die R7 ist eher leicht als stark, und sie lehrt Kurvengeschwindigkeit auf eine Weise, die sich später direkt auf alles Größere überträgt.
Wachsende Startfelder
Mehrere nationale Serien haben inzwischen R7-Klassen. Die Motorräder sind im Rennbetrieb günstig, und die Vorbereitungsliste ist kurz und gut bekannt.
Vier Modelljahre
Die Passform umfasst die Jahre 2022 bis 2025. Yamaha hat den Seitenständer-Stromkreis über die gesamte Bauzeit unverändert gelassen.
Originalstecker
Nichts gespleißt. Der Schalter wird mit dem Ständer wieder montiert, sobald das Motorrad auf die Straße zurückkehrt.
Die erste Arbeit
Nichts anderes auf der Liste lässt sich testen, bevor der Motor ohne Ständer weiterläuft. Sie macht den Rest des Abends erst möglich.

An einem Motorrad, das noch einen Ständer trägt, lohnt sich eine aktive Sicherheitsschaltung. Dieses Teil gehört an ein Motorrad, das keinen mehr hat.
Eine Klasse, die Yamaha schuf
Niemand baute einen verkleideten Mittelklasse-Zweizylinder mit Lenkerstummeln, als die R7 kam, und seitdem sind mehrere Hersteller gefolgt. Sie ist kein Supersportler und ist still und leise zum vernünftigsten Einstieg ins Rennstreckenfahren geworden.
