Die Vorgängerin
Die frühere Tracer nutzte denselben Zweizylinder mit einfacherer Ausstattung. Sie verkaufte sich enorm gut, weil sie kompetent und preiswert war.
Bei null anfangen
Ein leeres Kennfeld bedeutet, dass das Motorrad genau wie vorher läuft, weil jede Korrektur null ist. Das ist der sicherste mögliche Ausgangspunkt, und jede Sitzung sollte dort beginnen.
Die Referenzfahrt
Das Motorrad mit leerem Kennfeld fahren und festhalten, wo es zögert, pendelt oder flach wirkt. Diese Liste ist die Vorgabe für die erste Abstimmsitzung.
Rennkraftstoff
Eine andere Octanzahl und ein anderer Energiegehalt verändern, was der Motor braucht. Wer zwischen Kraftstoffen wechselt, braucht zwei Kennfelder und die Disziplin, das richtige aufzuspielen.
Reglement
Meisterschaften handhaben Motorsteuerung unterschiedlich. Manche erlauben zusätzliche Benzin-Steuergeräte uneingeschränkt, manche schränken sie ein, und einige verbieten sie, und nur das Reglement entscheidet, welcher Fall zutrifft.
Messen oder raten
Eine dritte Möglichkeit gibt es nicht. Eine Breitbandsonde macht aus dem Abstimmen Technik; ohne sie ist es eine teure Art, sich eine Meinung über einen Motor zu bilden.
Kaltstart
Die Warmlaufanreicherung ist Aufgabe der Serien-Steuerung. Ein Kennfeld lässt sich für einen kalten Motor anpassen, aber die grundlegende Strategie liegt nicht in der Hand dieses Steuergeräts.
Der Lohn für die Mühe
Ein Motor, der überall saubereres zieht, bei konstanter Geschwindigkeit nicht pendelt und bei jeder Kurvenausfahrt gleich auf den Gasgriff antwortet.
Zwei Konfigurationen, zwei Dateien
Straßen-Endschalldämpfer und Rennauspuff, Tankstellenbenzin und Rennkraftstoff, Sommer und Winter. Jede Kombination verdient ihr eigenes Kennfeld, und sobald sie existieren, dauert das Umschalten weniger als eine Minute.
