VTEC an einem V4
Hondas variables Ventilsystem schaltet bei rund sechstausend Umdrehungen von zwei auf vier Ventile um. Dieser Sprung ist das prägende Merkmal des Motors.
Modellspezifische Verkabelung
Der Kabelbaum ist für ein Motorrad zugeschnitten, mit den passenden angeformten Steckern. Deshalb listet der Katalog einzelne Maschinen statt Motorenfamilien, und deshalb zählen Baujahresspannen.
Warum nicht einfach reflashen
Ein Remapping des Original-Steuergeräts reicht auch in Zündung und Fahrerassistenz und wird ins Motorrad geschrieben. Dieses Gerät ist enger begrenzt, reversibel und gehört dem Besitzer.
Das Einspritzsignal
Dort passiert alles. Das Steuergerät verlängert oder verkürzt einen Impuls, den das serienmäßige Steuergerät bereits ausgibt, der am wenigsten eingreifende Weg, zu ändern, was ein Motor bekommt.
Beim Rennmeeting
Zwischen Training und Rennen ändern sich die Bedingungen. Ein programmierbares Steuergerät lässt das Kennfeld folgen, das gesamte Argument für dieses Gerät gegenüber einer festen Kurve.
Austausch ist ein Ausgangspunkt
Eine Datei von einem identischen Motorrad erspart nur den ersten Abend, nicht mehr. Motoren, Sensoren und Auspuffanlagen unterscheiden sich genug, dass die letzten zehn Prozent immer lokale Arbeit bleiben.
Sicherungen weg vom Laptop
Gute Kennfelder anderswo kopieren. Laptops in der Boxengasse fallen herunter, werden nass und bleiben liegen, und ein Kennfeld geht leichter verloren, als es neu zu erstellen ist.
Entfernung des Katalysators
Der Ausbau des Katalysators verändert den Gegendruck und entfernt eine Komponente, mit der das Werks-Kennfeld gerechnet hat. Das ist einer der stärksten Gründe, ein programmierbares Steuergerät zu fahren.
Die Kosten des gesamten Aufbaus
Das Steuergerät, eine Breitband-Lambdasonde und ein in die Auspuffanlage eingeschweißter Stutzen. Zusammen kosten sie weniger als ein ordentlicher Schalldämpfer, und ohne die Sonde ist das Steuergerät eine Zierde mit USB-Anschluss.
