The JP CJP 012H corrects the Multistrada 1260's fuelling cell by cell rather than along a single curve, which is the difference between a map and a trim.

A Longer Stroke
Ducati borrowed the Diavel's crankshaft to give the Multistrada more low-rev torque, which suited a heavy touring motorcycle far better than revs did.
Fitting Comes First
The unit goes in, the map stays empty, the motorcycle is ridden. Only then does the mapping start, because a baseline you have felt is worth more than one you assumed.
Diagnostics Stay Honest
The standard controller keeps its own fault memory and its own adaptations. A workshop reads the motorcycle rather than reading somebody's tuning session.
Race Fuel
A different octane rating and a different energy content change what the engine wants. Anybody switching between fuels needs two maps and the discipline to write the right one.
Two Silencers, Two Files
Switching exhausts means switching maps. Both live on the laptop and writing either takes under a minute, which is the flexibility the preset module cannot offer.
Where the Money Goes
Ninety euros more than the preset module buys the software, the memory and the ability to hold a different map for every configuration the motorcycle runs.
Before the First Change
Ride the motorcycle with an empty map and write down what bothers you. That list is worth more than any theory about where a factory map is lean.
The Value of Repeating a Run
Any single measurement can be wrong. Two runs that agree are data; one run is an anecdote, and maps built on anecdotes behave like it.
The Fair Recommendation
If the engine is modified and the owner will do the work, this is the right unit. If either half of that sentence is untrue, the preset module is the better purchase and costs ninety euros less.
