Die Reed-Ventile
Eines pro Zylinder, in einem am Kopf verschraubten Kunststoffgehäuse. Sie öffnen bei Druckabfall und sind das einzige bewegliche Teil in der mechanischen Hälfte des Systems.
Was schiefgehen kann
Gebrochene Reed-Ventile lassen Abgas durch den Schlauch zurück in Richtung Luftfilterkasten. Die Rückstände sind unverkennbar, und der Fehler wird meist bei der Suche nach etwas anderem gefunden.
Eine massive Verschlussplatte
Aus einem Stück gefräst, mit O-Ring-Nut. Darin altert nichts, und die Dichtfläche bleibt über so viele Wärmezyklen plan, wie der Motor sie erlebt.
Traktionskontrolle mit drei Stufen
Suzuki verbaute sie serienmäßig, als Konkurrenten dafür noch Aufpreis verlangten. Das System ist einfach, funktioniert bei Nässe und wurde nie zum Gesprächsthema.
Eine niedrige Sitzhöhe
Achthundertzwanzig Millimeter, was vielen Fahrern entgegenkommt, denen moderne Naked-Bikes zu hoch sind. Es ist eine Kleinigkeit, die überraschend viele Motorräder verkauft.
Vor jeder Kennfeldabstimmung
Unkontrollierte Luft in den Auslasskanälen macht eine Abgasanalyse wertlos. Erst die vorherige Entfernung des Systems sorgt dafür, dass die Messwerte die tatsächliche Verbrennung beschreiben.
Fünf Modelljahre
Die Passform umfasst 2017 bis 2021, die Baureihe vor der Ablösung durch die GSX-8S. Die Kopfanordnung bleibt durchgehend gleich.
Nicht die elektrische Hälfte
Das Steuergerät prüft weiterhin den Stromkreis des Magnetventils. Das Verschließen des Kopfes ändert nichts am Fehler im Cockpit.
Typgenehmigung
Abgastechnik ist Teil der Genehmigung, und ihre Entfernung beendet die Straßenzulassung in ganz Europa.
Rückbaubar
Das Serien-Gehäuse lässt sich mit den originalen Schrauben wieder montieren. Aufbewahren, und das Motorrad kehrt bei Bedarf in den Serienzustand zurück.
