Die elektrische Hälfte
Ein Magnetventil lässt im Schiebebetrieb Luft in die Auslasskanäle, und das Steuergerät überwacht seine Spule. Beides ist wichtig, und nur das Zweite macht Ärger.
Was das Abstecken bewirkt
Unendlicher Widerstand, wo eine Wicklung sein sollte. Das Steuergerät kann ein ausgebautes Teil nicht von einem defekten unterscheiden, also warnt es.
Eine korrekte Antwort
Dieses Bauteil liefert die Last, die das Steuergerät erwartet. Nichts wird überbrückt, nichts kaschiert, und danach ist kein Termin beim Händler nötig.
Ein Einundzwanzig-Zoll-Vorderrad bei 150 PS
KTM baute die R-Version für Leute, die ein sehr großes Motorrad auf Untergründe bringen, auf denen es eigentlich nichts zu suchen hat. Es funktioniert besser, als es sollte.
Offroad-Modus
Reduzierte Leistung, eine großzügigere Traktionskontrolle und abgeschaltetes ABS am Hinterrad. Es war das erste System seiner Art, das sich durchdacht anfühlte und nicht nach Marketing.
Bauteile über dem Motor
Schläuche, Halter und ein Ventilgehäuse aus Kunststoff sitzen dort, wo sie bei einem Sturz gefährdet sind. Wer sie entfernt, beseitigt eine mögliche Pannenursache weit weg von jeder Hilfe.
Das Knallen im Schiebebetrieb
Kraftstoff, der im Krümmer zu Ende verbrennt, verstärkt durch einen offenen Auspuff. Die Luftzufuhr stillzulegen, ist die einzige Änderung, die es tatsächlich beendet.
Ein einziger Stecker
Der KTM-eigene Stecker, nichts gespleißt. An einem Motorrad, das nach jeder Fahrt abgespritzt wird, behält ein unberührter Kabelbaum seinen Wert.
Das Membranventilgehäuse bleibt
Bis die Verschlussplatte montiert ist, sitzt die mechanische Hälfte noch am Zylinderkopf. Aus diesem Grund werden die beiden Teile getrennt verkauft.
Homologation
Der Ausbau des Systems beendet in Europa die Straßenzulassung. Es ist ein Wettbewerbsteil und sollte auch so behandelt werden.
