Hundertelf PS
Aus 937 cm³, mit einem Drehmoment, das weiter unten anliegt, als es die 821 schaffte. Es ist der am besten nutzbare Monster-Motor, den Ducati gebaut hat.
Warum Ducati es verbaut
Weil ein Fahrzyklus misst, was den Schalldämpfer verlässt, und nicht, was im Motor passiert, und weil das nachträgliche Verbrennen der Rückstände der günstigste Weg ist, den Wert zu erreichen.
Der Filter verrät es
Wird bei einer Ducati mit hoher Laufleistung der Airbox-Deckel abgenommen, zeigt der Zustand des Filterelements, ob die Membranplättchen Gas in die falsche Richtung durchgelassen haben.
Ruß in der Airbox
Das typische Zeichen eines gerissenen Membranplättchens, das Abgas durch den Schlauch zurückwandern lässt. Der Ruß legt sich auf das Filterelement und wird fast immer entdeckt, wenn man eigentlich etwas anderes sucht.
Die Marktausführung prüfen
Nicht jede Maschine in jedem Markt hat die vollständige Anordnung. Fünf Minuten mit einer Taschenlampe unter dem Tank klären das, bevor etwas bestellt wird.

Ein Widerstand, kein Signal
Im Eliminator steckt kein Mikrocontroller und nichts, was Strom zum Arbeiten braucht. Er stellt einen festen Wert bereit, den das Steuergerät als intakte Wicklung liest, weshalb er nicht driften, seine Kalibrierung nicht verlieren und sich an einem kalten Morgen nicht anders verhalten kann als im Sommer. Ein passives Bauteil an einem heißen, nassen, vibrierenden Ort ist die technisch richtige Antwort.
Die Verriegelungslasche des Steckers
Ducatis Stecker rasten ein, und die Verriegelung löst sich nicht immer dort, wo ein Daumen im Handschuh es erwartet. Wer an der falschen Stelle hebelt, bricht die Lasche ab, und ein Stecker mit abgebrochener Lasche muss ersetzt werden, statt sich noch überreden zu lassen. Sich den Stecker anzusehen, bevor man daran zieht, ist schon die ganze Technik.
