In geringer Stückzahl gebaut
Die R war nie ein Volumenmodell, was die Gebrauchtpreise stabil hält und gute Exemplare deutlich schwerer auffindbar macht als Standard-1200er.
Beide Hälften in einer Box
Der Steckverbinder, der das Steuergerät zufriedenstellt, und der gefräste Blindstopfen, der den Kopf verschließt. Zusammen bestellt kosten sie weniger als die beiden Teile einzeln.
Keine Änderung am Kennfeld
Die Gemischaufbereitungstabellen bleiben unverändert. Was sich ändert, ist, dass die Abgaswerte nicht mehr durch die vom System eingeleitete Luft verwässert werden.
Gewicht ist nicht der Punkt
Ein paar hundert Gramm verschwinden vom Motorrad. Das wird niemand bemerken, und niemand sollte es in dieser Erwartung kaufen.
Das Argument zur Displayanzeige
Ein gespeicherter Fehler überdeckt weitere Fehler dahinter, was der praktische Grund ist, ein Magnetventil nicht einfach abgesteckt zu lassen.
Widerstand statt Trickserei
Der Steckverbinder liefert einen Wert innerhalb des Bereichs, den das Steuergerät von einem intakten Magnetventil erwartet. Es wird kein Signal erzeugt oder abgefangen.
Die Dichtung des Luftfilterkastens prüfen
Der Deckel muss beim Zusammenbau korrekt sitzen, sonst zieht der Motor ungefilterte Luft an – genau das, was der Ansaugstutzen eigentlich verhindern sollte. Die Prüfung dauert zehn Sekunden und ist das Letzte, an das jemand denkt.
Der dritte Punkt, den niemand erwähnt
Der Schlauchanschluss am Luftfilterkasten bleibt offen, sobald das Gehäuse entfernt ist, und sein ordnungsgemäßer Verschluss ist Teil der Arbeit und kein nachträglicher Gedanke. Ungefilterte Luft im Ansaugtrakt ist ein deutlich schlechteres Ergebnis als das entfernte System.
Beide Zylinderköpfe
Zweizylinder und V4-Motoren tragen an jedem Kopf eine Baugruppe. Ein Kit deckt ab, was das Motorrad benötigt, aber nicht den Zugang: Die hintere Zylinderbank ist immer die schwierigere, und den Abend darum zu planen statt um den vorderen Zylinder ist das, was die Arbeit auf einen einzigen Termin begrenzt.
