Drei Bauteile
Ein elektrischer Eliminator, eine Zylinderkopfabdeckung und ein Luftfilterkasten-Stopfen. Zusammen decken sie den gesamten Weg vom Ansaug- bis zum Abgaskanal ab.
Der Luftfilterkasten ist hier wichtig
Eine XR sieht Schotter und Feldwege, die ein Superbike nie sieht, daher ist ein offener Ansaugtrakt bei diesem Modell eine schlechtere Idee als bei den meisten anderen.
Die zweite Generation
Dieses Kit deckt das Motorrad ab 2020 ab. BMW hat die XR um einen neuen Rahmen herum neu aufgebaut und die Kopf-Anordnung mit dem Motor geändert.
Der Ablauf
Tank, Luftfilterkasten, Schlauch, Kopfabdeckung, Steckverbinder, dann der Stopfen beim Zusammenbau. Eine Sitzung mit gewöhnlichem Werkzeug.
Öfter umgemappt als erwartet
Besitzer rüsten Auspuffanlagen nach und lassen die Gemischabstimmung überarbeiten, weil der Motor gut darauf anspricht – und ehrliche Messwerte setzen voraus, dass das System zuerst entfernt ist.
Nichts gebohrt
Durchgehend BMWs eigener Steckverbinder und eigene Schraubenpositionen, mit den Original-Drehmomentwerten.
Kein Werkstattbesuch
Der Stromkreis besteht seinen eigenen Selbsttest ab dem ersten Start, sodass danach nichts gelöscht werden muss.
Tempomat und Gepäck
Die XR wird ebenso für Distanz wie für Geschwindigkeit gekauft, und keine der Fahrassistenzsysteme hängt vom Sekundärluft-Stromkreis ab.
Rückrüstbar
Serienteile aufbewahren, und das Motorrad kehrt jederzeit in den Serienzustand zurück.
Homologation
Wo das System zur Zulassung gehört, beendet sein Entfernen die Straßenzulassung.
Ganzjährig gefahren
Eine XR ist ein Ganzjahresmotorrad in einem Maß, wie es die meisten schnellen Motorräder nicht sind, und dieser Einsatzzyklus treibt mehr Wärmewechsel durch die Abgashardware, als es ein reines Sommermotorrad je erlebt. Verschlissene Reed-Blätter fallen hier früher auf.
Ein Rahmen, der neu gebaut wurde
Die Überarbeitung 2020 ersetzte das Fahrgestell, statt es zu überarbeiten, und die Vibration, die die erste Generation prägte, verschwand damit. Besitzer, die das Modell deshalb abgeschrieben haben, sollten das spätere einmal fahren.
