Zwei Komma drei Liter
Triumphs Reihendreizylinder ist der größte in Serie gebaute Motorradmotor überhaupt, und bei seiner Einspritzung geht es darum, das Drehmoment zu zügeln, nicht es zu finden.
Garantie
Ein Händler sieht das zusätzliche Modul in dem Moment, in dem er die Sitzbank anhebt. Bei einem Motorrad, das noch innerhalb der Garantiezeit ist, ist es sinnvoll, es vor einem Termin abzuziehen – das dauert wenige Minuten und hinterlässt keine Spur.
Gewicht und Platzbedarf
Zweihundert Gramm und ein Gehäuse etwa in der Größe einer Streichholzschachtel. Bei den meisten Motorrädern liegt die Schwierigkeit weniger beim Modul selbst als darin, einen ordentlichen Platz für das Kabel zu finden.
Ein Bauteil, kein Projekt
Manche Tuningteile stoßen eine Diskussion an, die eine ganze Saison andauert. Dieses hier wird an einem Sonntagnachmittag montiert und danach nie wieder bedacht – für die meisten Besitzer genau der Punkt.
Nach einer Auspuffanlage montiert
Die Reihenfolge spielt eine Rolle. Ein Schalldämpfer verändert das Gemisch, und zu beurteilen, was das Modul danach noch beiträgt, ist nur möglich, wenn sich eine Änderung bereits eingespielt hat.
Beim Weiterverkauf
In Minuten abgezogen, in eine Box gelegt, und das Motorrad ist im Serienzustand. Oder montiert gelassen und im Angebot erwähnt. Keine der beiden Entscheidungen schadet.
Fahrmodi funktionieren weiterhin
Bei einem Ride-by-Wire-Motorrad formen Regen- und Sport-Einstellung die Gasannahme weiterhin genau wie zuvor. Das Modul arbeitet nachgeschaltet zu all dem und kann nicht erkennen, welcher Modus gewählt ist.
Falls das Motorrad schlechter läuft
Abziehen und dieselbe Straße fahren. Zehn Minuten klären, ob das Modul die Ursache ist – ein diagnostischer Luxus, den das Umprogrammieren des Steuergeräts nicht bietet.
