Honda wählte das ungleichmäßige Zündintervall bewusst, weil es einem Zweizylinder auf losem Untergrund das Traktionsgefühl eines V-Motors gibt.
Warum die Werkskennlinie vorsichtig ist
Ein Hersteller kennzeichnet ein Motorrad für jeden Markt, jede Kraftstoffqualität und jede Höhenlage, in die es je verkauft wird, und fügt dann einen Sicherheitsabstand für den Abgastest hinzu. Dieser Abstand ist kein Fehler. Er ist schlicht nicht auf ein einziges Motorrad, ein Klima und ein Auspuffsystem abgestimmt.
Bei einer aktuellen Maschine
Die Euro-5-Kennlinie ist enger und besser aufgelöst als jede vorherige, was bedeutet, dass die Gewinne kleiner sind und sich meist auf den Übergang aus geschlossenem Gas beschränken.
Die Serienelektronik bleibt unberührt
Kein Parameter wird geschrieben, kein Speicher gelöscht und keine Anpassung zurückgesetzt. Das ist der Unterschied zwischen dem Hinzufügen eines Moduls und dem Neuflashen eines Steuergeräts, und deshalb lässt sich dies in einer Minute rückgängig machen.
Danach nichts mehr zu konfigurieren
Es gibt kein Koppelverfahren, keine Kalibrierfahrt und kein Zurücksetzen. Das Motorrad wird gestartet, und das Modul tut bereits, was es tut.
Die Größe
Eine Streichholzschachtel und ein Kabel. Zweihundert Gramm. Es gibt kein Motorrad, bei dem die Montage ein Platzproblem darstellt, nur solche, bei denen die Sitzbank länger zum Abnehmen braucht.
Kraftstoffqualität
Eine Tankfüllung schlechten Benzins wirkt sich auf ein Motorrad mit Modul genauso aus wie auf eines ohne. Die Korrektur ist eine feste Kennlinie und kann nicht wissen, was in den Tank gefüllt wurde.
Sechs Zylinder
Am anderen Ende der Skala läuft ein Reihensechszylinder so ruhig, dass eine magere Stelle leicht zu übersehen ist. Die Korrektur wirkt trotzdem; der Fahrer hat nur weniger, womit er vergleichen kann.
