Im Vergleich zu einem vollständigen Remapping
Das Flashen des Serien-Steuergeräts verändert neben der Gemischbildung auch Zündzeitpunkt, Drehzahlbegrenzung und Fahrassistenzsysteme, und es erfordert Spezialausrüstung. Ein Modul ist enger begrenzt, günstiger und innerhalb einer Minute rückgängig zu machen, was einem Besitzer entgegenkommt, der ein bestimmtes Problem gelöst haben möchte.
Bei einem aktuellen Motorrad
Die Euro-5-Abstimmung ist enger toleriert und feiner aufgelöst als alles zuvor, weshalb der Gewinn kleiner ausfällt und sich größtenteils auf den Übergang aus geschlossenem Gas beschränkt.
Die Lambdaregelung wird nicht umgangen
Das Modul arbeitet mit dem Regelkreis der Sauerstoffsonde zusammen, nicht an ihm vorbei. Nichts wird abgeklemmt, simuliert oder verschleiert, was einer der Gründe ist, warum der Fehlerspeicher sauber bleibt.
Irgendwo trocken und sicher
Bei den meisten Motorrädern unter der Sitzbank, gelegentlich unter dem Tank. Es muss an einer Stelle liegen, an der kein Wasser steht und an der der Kabelbaum nicht unter Zug gerät, wenn sich das Fahrwerk bewegt.
Eine Kennlinie, keine feste Einstellung
Die Korrektur verändert sich mit Last und Drehzahl, statt ein einzelner Prozentsatz zu sein. Das unterscheidet ein entwickeltes Modul von einem einfachen Widerstand in einer Box, und deshalb wird es pro Modell verkauft.
Eine sinnvolle erste Veränderung
Es kostet weniger als ein Reifensatz, dauert einen Abend und lässt sich vollständig zurückbauen. Als Einstieg in das Verändern eines einspritzenden Motorrads gibt es deutlich schlechtere Ausgangspunkte.
Geregelter und ungeregelter Betrieb
Unterhalb einer bestimmten Last gleicht das Steuergerät anhand der Sauerstoffsonde ab; darüber folgt es allein dem gespeicherten Kennfeld. Dieser zweite Bereich ist größer, als die meisten Fahrer erwarten, und dort hat ein Modul freien Spielraum.
