Die Monster 1200 S ergänzt den Standard-1198-cm³-Naked um Öhlins-Fahrwerk und Schmiederäder, derselbe Schnellgasgriff-Umbau entfernt trotzdem den werksseitigen Schalterblock. Der bronzene Schalterblock JP PDRQ DU006 E, CNC-gefräst aus Ergal, ersetzt ihn an der neuen Baugruppe, verkabelt für den Serienstecker der S.

Wohin das Mehrgeld einer S tatsächlich fließt
Semiaktives Öhlins und Schmiederäder verschlingen das Budget der S-Ausstattung an der Monster 1200, Gaskörper und Schalterbaugruppe bleiben darunter identisch zum Basismodell, genau dort wird dieser bronzene Schalter relevant, sobald ein Schnellgasgriff-Kit auf diesen Unterbau aufgesetzt wird. Genau dort wird dieser bronzene Schalter nach dem Umbau relevant.
Ein Montagepunkt, der sich beide Ausstattungen teilen
Ducati hat Gaskörper und Schalterblock an Basis-Monster-1200 und dieser S identisch konstruiert, ein Schnellgasgriff-Umbau öffnet also an beiden Motorrädern dieselbe Lücke. Für Fahrer, die die S auf der Strecke hart fordern, gibt es von diesem Schalter auch eine auf Kernfunktionen reduzierte Racing-Version.
Ein Teil, das nur neben dem Umbau funktioniert
Dieser Schalter besitzt keine eigene Lenkerhalterung. An einer Monster 1200 S mit Original-Gaskörper gibt es nichts, an dem er befestigt werden könnte, deshalb wird er ausschließlich zusammen mit dem Schnellgasgriff-Kit verkauft. Eine Racing-Version dieses Schalters mit reinen Kernfunktionen gibt es auch für Fahrer, die die S hart fordern.
Ergal gefräst auf dem Niveau des restlichen Motorrads
CNC-Fräsen des Gehäuses aus massivem Ergal 7075 passt zu einer Monster, die bereits mit Schmiederädern und Öhlins-Fahrwerk ausgestattet ist, und hält seine Steifigkeit gegen die Vibration eines unverkleideten 1198-cm³-Zweizylinders. Diese Steifigkeit zählt unter den Lasten, die ein solches Fahrwerk tatsächlich erzeugt.
Derselbe Stecker, den Ducati an der S verwendet
Die Verkabelung steckt in den Stecker, der werksseitig an jeder Monster 1200 S verbaut ist, ohne Schneiden. Das hält den Schnellgasgriff-Umbau reversibel für einen Besitzer, der den Aufbau später ändert. Diese Reversibilität zählt bei einem Modell, dessen Elektronik Besitzer meist unangetastet lassen.
