Siebenhundert gebaut
KTM baute die Rally als limitierte Auflage mit geschlossenem Kartuschenfahrwerk und einem von der Rallye abgeleiteten Cockpit. Näher an einem Wettbewerbsmotorrad kommt diese Klasse kaum.
Sechzig Grad
Der Griff erreicht die volle Öffnung in sechzig Grad Drehung, wo die Serieneinheit deutlich mehr verlangt. Die Hand leistet am Ende weniger Arbeit für dasselbe Ergebnis.
Tempomat
Wo das Motorrad ihn besitzt, arbeitet der Tempomat weiterhin über dieselben Eingänge. Das mechanische Verhältnis des Griffs ist nichts, was er ausliest.
Was der Händler macht
Der Händler steckt an, führt die Gaslern-Routine aus, prüft den geschlossenen Wert. Es dauert Minuten und ist dieselbe Prozedur wie nach einem Service der Drosselklappeneinheit.
Eine Farbe
Schwarz eloxiert ist, was der Hersteller fertigt. Es gibt keine Oberfläche zur Auswahl und nichts über das Modell hinaus festzulegen.
Wer das nicht kaufen sollte
Für jeden, der überwiegend in der Stadt, überwiegend zu zweit oder überwiegend im Nassen fährt. Das Bauteil belohnt gezieltes Gasgeben und bestraft beiläufiges Gasgeben.
Die Gewohnheit überträgt sich
Fahrer, die dies auf einer Maschine nutzen, empfinden den serienmäßigen Gasgriff auf einer anderen danach oft als unpräzise. Es ist eine Vorliebe, die sich auf die Hand überträgt.
Der Totgang verschwindet
Eine gefertigte Einheit startet ohne den kleinen Totgang in der geschlossenen Stellung, den eine gealterte Kunststoffeinheit entwickelt. Fahrer beschreiben das Ergebnis oft als schärferes Gas, obwohl tatsächlich nur ein Fehler verschwunden ist, den sie nicht mehr bemerkt hatten.
Zwei Motorräder, ein Fahrer
Ein Kurzhub-Gasgriff auf einer Maschine und ein serienmäßiger auf einer anderen verlangen jedes Mal eine kurze Umstellung, wenn sich das Garagentor öffnet. Die meisten Besitzer gewöhnen sich daran, aber es lohnt sich, das vorher zu wissen, bevor man das Teil nur in die halbe Flotte einbaut.
