Der JP ACC DU020 verändert, wie weit der Gasgriff der Monster 1200 drehen muss, und sonst nichts – ein kleineres Versprechen als bei den meisten Cockpit-Teilen, dafür aber eines, das sich leicht einhalten lässt.

Der große Monster
Aufrechter Lenker, breiter Tank und genug Drehmoment, um in den ersten drei Gängen das Vorderrad leicht zu machen. Die Monster wurde immer über den Gasgriff gefahren statt um ihn herum.
Aus dem Vollen gefräst
Ergal, gefräst statt gespritzt – das erlaubt es, das Innenverhältnis auf einen festen Wert zu halten statt auf ein Toleranzband.
Warum sechzig und nicht weniger
Unterhalb von etwa sechzig Grad fehlt der Hand die nötige Feinauflösung, und kleine Eingaben werden unbrauchbar. Es ist ein bewusst gewählter Wert und nicht der kürzeste überhaupt mögliche.
Anzugsmomente am Lenker
Die Klemmschrauben sind klein und greifen in Aluminium. Die Werte sind niedrig und es lohnt sich, sie nachzuschlagen, statt sie am Lenker zu schätzen.
Straßenzulassung
Der Gasgriff gehört zu den Bedienelementen des Motorrads, und ein Bauteil, das deren Funktionsweise verändert, sollte dort angegeben werden, wo örtliche Vorschriften das verlangen.
Griffe mit verklebter Hülse
Manche Werksgriffe sind auf das Rohr aufgespritzt und lassen sich nicht erhalten. Ein neues Paar sollte man einplanen, statt es erst mittendrin festzustellen.
Der Verlust des Originalgriffs
Verklebte Griffe überstehen die Demontage nicht. Ein Ersatzpaar gehört auf dieselbe Bestellung wie die Baugruppe und nicht auf die nächste.
Der Einbauablauf
Lenkerendgewicht ab, Griff ab, Schaltereinheit gelöst und nach innen geschoben, zwei Klemmschrauben heraus, Baugruppe abgenommen und abgesteckt. Das neue Gehäuse wird in umgekehrter Reihenfolge montiert. Danach geht es nur noch um Anzugsmomente und Sorgfalt, gefolgt vom Diagnose-Reset, bevor das Motorrad bewegt wird.
Nach dem Wechsel des Lenkers
Ein anderer Lenker verschiebt die Schaltereinheit und kann den Platz für die Baugruppe verändern. Vor der Bestellung zu messen dauert fünf Minuten; es erst festzustellen, wenn die alte Baugruppe schon abgebaut ist, kostet einen ganzen Abend.
