Hundertsechsundneunzig Kilogramm
Fahrfertig, was ordentlich, aber nicht bemerkenswert ist, und das Gewicht liegt so tief, dass sich das Motorrad deutlich leichter anfühlt, als die Zahl vermuten lässt.
Ein offener Schlauch ist nicht gleichwertig
Er funktioniert, bis das Motorrad auf der Seite liegend transportiert wird oder auf einem Parkplatz umfällt, und zeigt dann, warum es den Anschluss gibt.
Was vom Motorrad abgebaut wird
Ein Kunststoffbehälter, ein Stahlhalter, ein Magnetventil und drei Schlauchstücke mit ihren Schellen. Das Beschreiben dauert länger als der Ausbau.
Warum es ihn überhaupt gibt
Vorschriften verlangen, dass Kraftstoffdampf aufgefangen und nicht freigesetzt wird, und Aktivkohle ist der billigste Weg dafür. Nichts an dieser Anordnung nützt dem Fahrer.
Zwei verschiedene Motorräder
Ein Rennstreckenmotorrad hat hier nichts zu verlieren, bei einem zugelassenen Straßenmotorrad in einem Markt mit entsprechender Vorschrift ist dagegen die Rechtslage zu bedenken. Dasselbe Modell kann beides sein.
Rechtlich, nicht technisch
Was dem Ausbau der Begrenzung der Verdunstungsemissionen im Weg steht, sind Vorschriften, nicht die Technik. Das Motorrad läuft ohne sie einwandfrei und hätte das immer getan.
Nichts Tragendes wird angetastet
Der Halter trägt den Behälter und sonst nichts. Rahmen, Heckrahmen und Kraftstoffversorgung bleiben unberührt, und als einzige Spur bleiben zwei leere Befestigungsbohrungen zurück.
Eine lange Arbeit, kurz gemacht
Alles daran geht schneller, wenn der Tank richtig abgestützt ist und die Sitzbank sicher liegt. Die Vorbereitung ist der größte Teil der Arbeit.
Preislich unter der Klasse angesetzt
Triumph hat die Daytona 660 unterhalb aller Dreizylinder-Konkurrenten und der meisten Zweizylinder angesetzt, und das ohne erkennbare Kompromisse bei Fahrwerk oder Bremsen. Diese Kombination ist seltener, als die Datenblätter vermuten lassen.
