Einundzwanzig Zoll vorn
Ducati hat eine echte geländetaugliche Reiseenduro gebaut statt einer hochbeinigen Straßenmaschine, mit Speichenrädern und 230 Millimetern Federweg vorn.
Der Tank atmet weiterhin
Entnommener Kraftstoff muss durch einströmende Luft ersetzt werden, deshalb liefert das Kit einen fachgerechten Entlüftungsanschluss, statt es einem Schlauch zu überlassen, sich seinen eigenen Weg zu suchen.
Ein offener Schlauch ist nicht gleichwertig
Er funktioniert, bis das Motorrad auf der Seite liegend transportiert wird oder umfällt, und dann zeigt er genau, warum es einen fachgerechten Anschluss gibt.
Das Fehlerbild des Spülventils
Ist die Aktivkohlefüllung gesättigt, leitet das Ventil flüssigen Kraftstoff statt Dampf in den Einlasstrakt, und deshalb führt ein vollgesogener Aktivkohlefilter zu einem fetten, unruhigen Leerlauf.
Der Kostenvergleich
Ein Ersatz-Aktivkohlefilter kostet ein Mehrfaches eines Eliminator-Kits und wird mit der Zeit erneut gesättigt sein. Nur sehr wenige Besitzer ersetzen ihn ein zweites Mal.
Einlagern mit vollem Tank
Wer ein Motorrad mit randvollem Tank über den Winter abstellt, beansprucht das Kraftstoffdampf-Rückhaltesystem monatelang, ohne dass ein laufender Motor es freispült.
Keine Diagnosesoftware nötig
Nichts davon erfordert ein Händler-Diagnosegerät oder einen Herstellerzugang. Die Antwort auf die Stromkreisabfrage ist passiv, und für die mechanische Arbeit genügt ein Schraubenschlüssel.
Der Stromkreis des Spülventils
Das Steuergerät überwacht das Magnetventil, das den Dampf in den Ansaugtrakt dosiert. Fehlt nach dem Ausbau der Teile die Antwort im Stromkreis, wird deshalb ein Fehler gespeichert, und im Cockpit leuchtet eine Warnung auf. Wegen dieser elektrischen Hälfte ist das hier ein Kit und kein Beutel voller Blindstopfen.
Schlauch ist nicht gleich Schlauch
Die Leitungen zwischen Tank, Aktivkohlefilter und Ansaugtrakt führen Dampf statt flüssigen Kraftstoffs und sind entsprechend dimensioniert. Eine davon als Entlüftungsleitung weiterzuverwenden, nur weil sie zufällig die passende Länge hat, ist die Art Abkürzung, die funktioniert, bis ein heißer Tag kommt, und sie ist die zwanzig Minuten nicht wert, die sie spart.
