Ein Motorrad, nach dem niemand gefragt hatte
MV nahm den Dreizylinder der Brutale, gab ihm ein langhubiges Fahrwerk, einen hohen Sitz, breite Lenker und klappbare Fußrastenenden und schuf etwas zwischen Supermoto und Naked Bike. Es verkaufte sich in kleinen Stückzahlen und wird von jedem, der es gefahren hat, mit Zuneigung erinnert.
Breite Lenker, andere Hebelwirkung
Die Sitzposition bringt die Hände des Fahrers weiter auseinander und höher als bei einer Brutale, was verändert, wie Gasgriffeingaben ankommen. Ein kürzerer Nocken passt zu dieser Geometrie, weil dem Handgelenk in aufrechter Haltung weniger natürliche Drehung zur Verfügung steht.
Drei Modelljahre
Die Rivale lief von 2014 bis 2016 und verschwand dann still, als MV sein Sortiment bereinigte. Diese kurze Lebensdauer ist der Grund, warum Exemplare selten sind und warum der Zubehörmarkt dafür schmal ist.
Seilzug-Gasgriff
Die Umrüstung ist mechanisch, nutzt die eigenen Züge des Motorrads und stört nichts Elektrisches. Bei einer MV dieser Ära ist das ein echter Vorteil und keine Formalität.
Freiliegende Konstruktion
Die Rivale zeigt ihren Gitterrohrrahmen und ihre einseitige Schwinge ohne Umschweife. Ein gefertigtes Aluminium-Gasgriffgehäuse passt dazu auf eine Weise, wie es ein Gussgehäuse mit Kunststoffabdeckung nicht tut.
Schlichte Flanke
Keine Beschriftung auf dieser Version. Bei einem optisch so unruhigen Motorrad wie der Rivale ist ein unmarkiertes Bauteil im Cockpit in der Regel die ruhigere Entscheidung.
Klappbare Fußrastenenden
Ein kleines Detail, das die Absicht offenbart: MV erwartete, dass die Rivale hart genug gefahren wird, um die Fußrasten aufsetzen zu lassen, und konstruierte entsprechend. Sie ist keine Supermoto, aber wer sie zeichnete, hatte eindeutig Zeit auf einer verbracht.
