Geschnitten für einen breiten Lenker
Das M-Profil folgt der Kabelgeometrie eines einteiligen Lenkers statt eines Stummellenkers. Es ist ein kleiner Unterschied, der aber entscheidet, ob die Seilzüge bei vollem Einschlag natürlich sitzen.
Öhlins und M50-Bremssättel
Die S-Ausstattung brachte an beiden Enden voll einstellbares Öhlins-Fahrwerk und Brembos M50-Monoblock-Bremsen. Bei einem 147-PS-Naked-Bike mit kurzem Radstand arbeiten beide härter als anderswo.
Elf Grad
Der Name Testastretta 11 Grad bezieht sich auf die reduzierte Ventilüberlappung, die einen Rennmotor im Alltagsverkehr erträglich machte. Das ist die Änderung, die aus Ducati-Zweizylindern alltagstaugliche Motorräder machte.
Nur die Gasgriffeinheit
Der Schalterblock bleibt unangetastet. Dies deckt das Gehäuse ab, die passende Anschaffung, wenn an der Elektrik nichts zu ersetzen ist.
Präzision über die Zeit
Eine gefräste Bohrung hält das Rohr konzentrisch, während sich eine gespritzte mit der Zeit weitet. Bei Ride-by-Wire ist genau diese Konstanz die Grundlage, auf der die Motorsteuerung aufbaut.
Eine Oberfläche
Schwarz eloxiert, in die Oberfläche eingebracht. Bei einer Monster liegt der Lenker völlig frei, und eine Beschichtung hält schlicht nicht so lange wie eine Eloxierung.
Aus dem Vollen gefräst
Ergal 7075 mit etwa der doppelten Streckgrenze der 6000er-Serie. Es ist das richtige Material für ein Bauteil, das ein Jahrzehnt lang um einen Lenker geklemmt bleibt.
Ein Rahmen aus den Zylinderköpfen
Der Gitterrohrrahmen verschraubt sich mit den Zylinderköpfen, wobei der Motor strukturelle Last trägt. Ducati nutzt diese Idee seit den 1970er-Jahren, und bei der Monster ist sie am deutlichsten sichtbar.
Die Version, die man kaufen sollte
Die S verkaufte sich deutlich besser als die Basis-1200, weil der Fahrwerksunterschied sofort spürbar war. Gebraucht bleibt sie die Version, auf die es sich zu warten lohnt.
