Für die Panigale geformt
Das P-Profil ist um die Stummellenkerposition und die Kabelführung des Superbikes herum gezeichnet, nicht um Ducatis breitere Modellpalette. Im Raum hinter der Verkleidung einer 1199 ergibt diese Spezialisierung einen sichtbar aufgeräumteren Einbau.
Ein Motor, der seinen Preis wert ist
Titanpleuel, eine erleichterte Kurbelwelle, Kolben mit zwei Ringen und ein überarbeiteter Ventiltrieb. Der Motor der R ist eine Homologationsausführung, die Ducati zu einem Preis verkaufte, der genau das widerspiegelte.
Verstellbares Schwingenlager
Bei der R lässt sich die Höhe des Schwingendrehpunkts verändern, was beeinflusst, wie das Fahrwerk auf die Antriebskräfte reagiert. Es ist eine Renneinstellung an einem Straßenmotorrad, und außerhalb eines Fahrerlagers nutzt sie kaum jemand.
Gehäuse, nicht Schalter
Dieses Teil umfasst allein die Gasgriffeinheit und lässt den Schalterblock unangetastet. An einer R ist die serienmäßige Gasgriffeinheit eines der letzten gespritzten Bauteile in der Nähe des Fahrers.
Wo der Sensor misst
Die Bohrung ist spanend gefertigt statt geformt, was das Rohr konzentrisch hält. Bei einem so präzise abgestimmten Motor wie dem der R spürt man diese Gleichmäßigkeit bei den kleinen Gasöffnungen, die über die Kurvenausfahrt entscheiden.
Schwarze Eloxierung
Durch Umwandlung des Metalls selbst entstanden. Neben Carbonteilen und sehr vielen sichtbaren Titanschrauben ist Schwarz die Oberfläche, die sich richtig zurücknimmt.
Luftfahrtlegierung
Ergal 7075 mit etwa der doppelten Festigkeit von gewöhnlichem, spanend bearbeitetem Aluminium. Es ist teurer in der Bearbeitung und hält eine Klemmfläche dauerhaft maßhaltig.
Zwölftausend Umdrehungen aus einem Zweizylinder
Die Drehzahlgrenze der R lag höher als bei den meisten Reihenvierzylindern ihrer Generation, und genau dafür war die extreme Bohrung da. Deshalb brauchte der Motor auch Titan, um das zu überstehen.
Gebaut für die Superbike-WM
Ducati baute die R, weil das Reglement der Superbike-WM eine Straßenversion verlangte. Alles Ungewöhnliche an ihr hat einen Grund im Wettbewerb statt im Marketing, und das wird immer seltener.
