Zehn Kilogramm leichter ab 2020
BMW hat die XR um einen neuen Rahmen herum neu aufgebaut und dabei zugleich die Vibrationsprobleme angegangen, was aus einer kompromissbehafteten Idee ein sehr gutes Motorrad gemacht hat.
Koffer von Anfang an eingeplant
Die Gepäckaufnahmen sind Teil des Heckrahmens statt eines angeschraubten Trägers, was die Koffer schmal genug für die Fahrt zwischen den Spuren hält.
Blinker im Weg
Breite Koffer und breite Blinkerhalter vergrößern beide den Platzbedarf des Motorrads im Verkehr, was einer der praktischen Gründe ist, aus denen Besitzer kleinere Einheiten montieren.
Umkehrbar
Die Originalteile wieder einbauen und den Eliminator abstecken, ohne dass in beide Richtungen etwas verbraucht wird.
Eine Kategorie, die sie selbst erfunden hat
Einen Liter-Superbike-Vierzylinder 2015 in ein hohes Fahrwerk mit breiten Lenkern zu packen, war eine ungewöhnliche Idee, und innerhalb von fünf Jahren hatte die halbe Branche etwas Ähnliches gebaut. Die XR war zuerst da und zählt immer noch zu den schnellsten.
Die Warnung erlischt nicht
Sie kehrt bei jedem Zündzyklus zurück, bis der Stromkreis korrekt gelesen wird, weshalb das Abkleben der Leuchte keine Lösung ist, die jemand dauerhaft nutzt.
A und B sind nicht austauschbar
Elektrisch tun sie dasselbe, und mechanisch passt nur eine Variante. Die fünf Minuten für einen Blick lohnen sich.
Beide Seiten unabhängig
Links und rechts werden getrennt gemessen, sodass beide Stromkreise beantwortet werden müssen. Nur eine Seite zu montieren und nur diese zu testen, ist ein häufiger Fehler.
Zehn Minuten ohne Sitzbank
Beide Stecker sind bei den meisten Modellen erreichbar, sobald die Sitzbank abgenommen ist, und die Eliminatoren sitzen neben dem vorhandenen Kabelbaum, ohne einen eigenen neuen Befestigungspunkt zu benötigen.
Links und rechts, unabhängig
Jede Seite hat ihre eigene Messung und ihre eigene Warnung, sodass ein Motorrad mit nur einem montierten Eliminator in eine Richtung korrekt und in die andere falsch funktioniert. Das ist der mit Abstand häufigste Grund, aus dem diese Arbeit halb erledigt bleibt.
