Die vernünftige Version
Die S hat den gleichen Motor und Rahmen wie die R, mit konventionellem Fahrwerk und einem niedrigeren Preis. Für den Straßeneinsatz gibt sie erstaunlich wenig preis.
Ein Farbdisplay
Mit dem Update 2016 verbaut und lesbar, wie es das vorherige Cockpit nicht war. Triumph war bei Anzeigeinstrumenten früh dabei.
Ein überwachtes Magnetventil
Der Stromkreis des Spülventils wird elektrisch geprüft. Ihn allein abzustecken schreibt einen Fehler ins Gedächtnis, deshalb wird der Stromkreis geschlossen statt offengelassen.
Gepäckträger
Kofferhalterungen konkurrieren bei den Tourenmodellen um den gleichen Platz. Die Entfernung der Baugruppe ist oft das, was den Rest einer Zubehörliste erst passend macht.
Was die Entlüftungsverschraubung leistet
Lässt Luft ein, während Kraftstoff verbraucht wird, und hält Benzin zurück, wenn das Motorrad umfällt. Beide Aufgaben zählen, und ein abgeschnittener Schlauch erfüllt nur die erste.
Ethanol-Kraftstoffe lassen ihn schneller altern
Moderner Tankstellenkraftstoff setzt der Aktivkohle mehr zu als das Benzin, für das das System ursprünglich ausgelegt wurde, sodass Filter an älteren Motorrädern häufig erschöpft sind, lange bevor die Laufleistung das vermuten lässt.
Eine häufige Fehldiagnose
Startschwierigkeiten werden der Batterie, den Zündkerzen, den Einspritzdüsen und der Kraftstoffpumpe zugeschrieben, bevor jemand den Filter erwähnt. Bis dahin hat der Besitzer meist schon mehr ausgegeben, als die Entfernung gekostet hätte.
Bei einem Reisemotorrad
Randvoll zu tanken bei jedem Stopp ist genau das, was ein Fahrer durch menschenleeres Land macht, und genau das, was eine Aktivkohlefüllung ruiniert. Die Modelle mit den größten Tanks leiden deshalb am stärksten – das Gegenteil von praktisch.
Die leere Halterung
Sie zurückzulassen sammelt nur Straßenschmutz und erfüllt keinen Zweck. Ihre Entfernung bedeutet zwei weitere Schrauben und lässt den Rahmen fertig wirken.
