Die 1200 R war die stärkste Monster, die Ducati gebaut hat, und sie verkaufte sich in kleinen Stückzahlen an Menschen, die genau das wollten. Niemand hat sie als vernünftiges Naked Bike gekauft, und niemand, der eine hat, behandelt sie als gewöhnliches Verkehrsmittel.

Rundes Glas an einem breiten Lenker
Der Lenker der R ist breit, und seine Enden sitzen weit außen neben dem Fahrer. Von dort deckt ein rundes Sichtfeld gleichmäßig ab, was hinten passiert, ohne dass es auf genaues Ausrichten ankommt – in einem gedrehten Aluminiumring an einem gefrästen Arm.

Dieser Spiegel trägt die europäische Typgenehmigung E1*81R00/02*0143 nach UN-Regelung Nr. 81. Weder eine nationale Eintragung noch eine Abnahme ist erforderlich; das Prüfzeichen ist in das Gehäuse eingeformt, wo es ein Kontrollbeamter ablesen kann.
