Eine Multistrada 1200 verbringt ihr Leben zwischen Pendelstrecke, Pässen und gelegentlichen Schotterwegen, und jede dieser Situationen verlangt den Lenker an einer etwas anderen Stelle. Gilles hat für dieses Motorrad neun Positionen vermessen: Der Lenker sitzt entweder 13,5 oder 23,5 Millimeter höher, und innerhalb jeder Höhe lässt er sich in Schritten von 3,6 um 7,2 Millimeter nach vorn oder hinten versetzen.

Im Stehen auf den Rasten
Wer auf losem Untergrund im Stehen fährt, will den Lenker meist hoch und nah. Die obere der beiden Höhen bietet zusammen mit der hintersten Einstellung genau das, ohne weitere Änderung am Motorrad.
Straßenzulassung
Die ABE Nr. KBA 91440 deckt diese Lenkererhöhungen an der Ducati MULTISTRADA 1200 ab. Das Dokument vermerkt: Der originale 28,4-mm-Lenker wird ohne Reduzierkit verwendet; die Lenkererhöhungen sind mit dem originalen Lenker genehmigt. Schon durch die ABE selbst sind sie ohne Abnahme straßenzugelassen; die KBA-Nummer ist in das Teil eingefräst oder eingelasert, und das ABE-Dokument lässt sich auf dieser Seite herunterladen.

Montage
Die Lenkererhöhungen werden an den Originalaufnahmen der oberen Gabelbrücke montiert. Zunächst alles nur locker anziehen, die gewünschte Position einstellen und dann jede Verschraubung mit dem Wert aus der Gilles-Anleitung festziehen. Vor der Fahrt den Lenker von Anschlag zu Anschlag drehen und prüfen, ob Züge, Schläuche und Kabel weiterhin frei laufen.
