Die Diavel V4 hat den Riemenantrieb ihrer Vorgängerin gegen eine Kette getauscht, und mit der Kette kamen die Schutzteile, die dazugehören. Dies ist das vordere – das Paneel über dem Kettentrum dort, wo es die Vorgelegewelle verlässt, und genau dort wird Schmiermittel auf dem ersten warmen Kilometer jeder Fahrt nach außen geschleudert.

Wo das Schmiermittel hingeht
Kettenfett bleibt nicht auf der Kette. Die Fliehkraft schleudert es nach außen, sobald der Antrieb warm ist, und der vordere Schutz ist die erste Fläche, auf der es landet. Deshalb wird dieses Teil schneller schmutzig als alles andere auf der linken Seite – und deshalb ist die Wahl der Ausführung hier eine praktische und keine ästhetische Entscheidung.
Roh und matt sind die vernünftigen Optionen. Ein Klarlack an dieser Stelle ist eine Fläche, die Sie putzen statt abwischen werden, und aggressive Lösemittel zum Entfernen von Kettenfett mattieren einen Lack über Monate. Das Carbon selbst ist gleichgültig gegen all das und lässt sich auf den Ausgangszustand zurückreinigen.
Zwei Schutzteile, ein System
Der vordere Kettenschutz deckt das Vorgelegewellenende ab; weiter hinten gibt es eine eigene Abdeckung. Werden beide ersetzt, montieren Sie sie in einem Arbeitsgang und in derselben Ausführung – man sieht sie von links gemeinsam, und eine Abweichung entlang einer einzigen Linie des Motorrads fällt stärker auf als dieselbe Abweichung zwischen weit entfernten Teilen.
Prüfen Sie nach Arbeiten hier die Kettenspannung. Nicht weil der Schutz sie beeinflusst, sondern weil der abgenommene Schutz den besten Zugang bietet, den Sie bekommen werden.
