Wer auf der Rennstrecke um jede letzte Zehntelsekunde kämpft, weiß: Die Wahl der Kette zählt mehr, als den meisten Fahrern bewusst ist. Die EK 520 R/3D NX-Ring Kette in Chrom gehört zu den leichtesten Optionen der ThreeD-Serie von EK, wird vom MOTO2 Stylobike Yamaha Racing Team eingesetzt und wurde gezielt für Supersport-Maschinen von 600 bis 750 cm³ entwickelt, bei denen rotierende Masse der Feind jeder Rundenzeit ist.

NX-Ring Technologie im Detail
Der NX-Ring ist die firmeneigene Dichtungslösung von EK, deren Form die Kontaktfläche zwischen Ring und Seitenlaschen minimiert. Das reduziert die innere Reibung gegenüber herkömmlichen O-Ring-Designs, sodass mehr von der Motorleistung tatsächlich am Hinterrad ankommt. Gleichzeitig hält der Ring ausreichend Schmierstoff zurück, sodass die Kette selbst unter der thermischen und mechanischen Belastung des Renneinsatzes nicht vorzeitig verschleißt. Das Ergebnis ist eine Kette, die sich beim Beschleunigen spürbar lebendiger anfühlt und ihre Effizienz länger hält als herkömmliche abgedichtete Ketten.
R/3D-Konstruktion
Die Bezeichnung R/3D bezieht sich auf das dreidimensionale Leichtbauverfahren von EK, das durchgängig in der gesamten Kette zum Einsatz kommt. Kaltgeschmiedete Kettenlaschen sind bei gleichem Gewicht stärker als gegossene Pendants, und die angefasten Kanten an Innen- und Außenlaschen reduzieren Spannungskonzentrationen an den am höchsten belasteten Punkten jedes Glieds. Die Bolzen sind gebohrt, um Masse dort zu entfernen, wo sie strukturell am wenigsten Einfluss hat. Zusammen ergeben diese Merkmale den Wert von 1,44 kg pro 100 Glieder und eine Zugfestigkeit von 35 kN – Zahlen, die eine für Rennbedingungen entwickelte Kette widerspiegeln, nicht nur eine Renn-Optik.
Chrom-Oberfläche
Diese Variante ist ausschließlich in Chrom erhältlich und verleiht der Kette eine klare, kontrastreiche Optik, die vor Kettenrädern und Schwinge gut zur Geltung kommt. Die Oberfläche bietet zudem zusätzlichen Schutz vor Feuchtigkeit, Schmutz und Ölverunreinigungen, die auf der Rennstrecke oder im Fahrerlager unvermeidlich sind.
