Die technische Abnahme sieht sich dieses Teil an, bevor sie sich irgendetwas anderes am Motorrad ansieht. Rundstreckenreglements in ganz Europa verlangen, dass die untere Verkleidung das Motoröl zurückhält statt es auf die Ideallinie laufen zu lassen, und ein Spoiler, der kein gemessenes Volumen fasst, kommt nicht durch. CY20220 ist Carbonins Antwort für die R9: ein tiefer Carbonquerschnitt, um Ölwanne und Krümmerführung des 890er-Dreizylinders geformt.

Ein Dreizylinder ist kein Vierzylinder
Der Bauraum unter einem Reihendreizylinder unterscheidet sich von dem eines Vierzylinders in einem Punkt, der hier zählt: drei Krümmer laufen in einem schmaleren Sammler zusammen, und der Raum, den sie einnehmen, liegt weiter zu einer Seite. Ein für einen Vierzylinder gezeichneter und angepasster Spoiler würde entweder am Sammler anstehen oder dort eine Lücke lassen, wo das Auffangvolumen sein sollte. Dieser ist für die Geometrie der R9 geformt — weshalb er sich auch nicht von einem anderen Modell der Baureihe borgen lässt.
Zugang und Wartung
Der Spoiler geht an seinen Haltern ab, ohne die Flanken anzurühren, ein Ölcheck zwischen zwei Sitzungen wird also keine Demontage. Dabei lohnt sich ein Blick in den Spoiler hinein: Öl, das darauf schwitzt, ist die früheste Warnung, die ein Fahrer bekommt — und sie ist nur zu sehen, wenn jemand das Teil umdreht.
