Der BST STAR TEK Carbon-Radsatz erreicht genau das durch eine TÜV- und JASO-zertifizierte Monocoque-Bauweise aus Prepreg-Carbon – nachweislich sicher, extrem leicht und auf Rennsport-Niveau gefertigt.

Engineering und Konstruktion
Im Zentrum des STAR TEK-Designs steht BSTs Monocoque-Fertigungsmethode, bei der die gesamte Carbon-Struktur als eine einzige, integrierte Einheit geformt wird. Innerhalb der Carbon-Schale selbst gibt es weder Klebenähte noch mechanische Verbindungselemente – das Ergebnis ist ein Rad, das Belastungen gleichmäßig verteilt und der zyklischen Ermüdung widersteht, für die mehrteilige Konstruktionen im Laufe der Zeit anfällig sind.
Das in diesen Rädern verwendete Prepreg-Carbon mit CRBNX-Technologie ist ein hochmoduliges Material, das unter kontrolliertem Druck und kontrollierter Temperatur geschichtet und ausgehärtet wird, wodurch das fertige Rad ein Faser-Harz-Verhältnis und einen Lufteinschlussanteil erreicht, den herkömmliches handlaminiertes Carbon nicht erreichen kann. Das BST Ultra-High-Speed-Aluminium-Speichenzentrum ist präzisionsgefertigt, um exakt mit dieser Schale zu verbinden, wodurch die Gesamtmasse bemerkenswert gering bleibt, während es die Drehmomentbelastungen aufnimmt, die ein von der Tuono abgeleiteter V4-Motor an der Hinterradnabe erzeugt.

Die strukturelle Integrität wird durch 1.000.000 Biege- und Torsionszyklen nach TÜV- und JASO-Standards nachgewiesen. Die radiale Dauerhaftigkeit wird über 6.000 km simulierter radialer Belastung geprüft. Ein zusätzlicher radialer Schlagtest bestätigt, dass das Rad nach einem Bordsteinkontakt den Luftdruck hält – entscheidend für den realen Einsatz auf Straße und Rennstrecke. Nach diesen strukturellen Tests durchläuft jedes einzelne Rad einen CT-Scan und eine vollständige Sichtprüfung, sodass jede innere Auffälligkeit, so klein sie auch sein mag, erkannt wird, bevor das Rad zum Verkauf freigegeben wird.
Auf der Straße und der Rennstrecke
Die reduzierte Drehträgheit verändert spürbar, wie sich die RSV4-Plattform bei Richtungswechseln anfühlt. Leichtere Räder erfordern weniger Kraftaufwand beim Richtungswechsel, sodass der Wechsel zwischen Scheitelpunkten weniger körperlichen Einsatz verlangt und das Motorrad unmittelbarer auf Lenkbefehle reagiert. Derselbe reduzierte Kreiseleffekt erlaubt es der Federung außerdem, Fahrbahnunebenheiten präziser zu folgen, was die Stabilität in Kurvenmitte und den Reifenkontakt verbessert. Auf der Straße sorgt die geringere ungefederte Masse für ein ruhigeres Fahrverhalten auf unebenem Untergrund.
