Das hier ist die Streckenhälfte einer Entscheidung. Akrapovics Slip-On für die Monster lässt sich ohne Verbindungsrohr nicht montieren, und es gibt zwei davon: eines mit Katalysator, das die EG- und ECE-Genehmigung erhält, und dieses ohne. Sich für dieses Rohr zu entscheiden heißt, die Genehmigung aufzugeben.

Die Akrapovic Slip-On Line für die Monster wird einzeln verkauft und lässt sich so nicht fahren — ein Verbindungsrohr oder der Evolution-Krümmer muss dazu. Diese an der Kasse getroffene Wahl entscheidet, ob die fertige Anlage straßenlegal ist.
Die Fassung mit Katalysator behält die EG- und ECE-Typgenehmigung. Diese nicht, und das Motorrad wird zur Streckenmaschine. Beide Rohre passen an denselben Dämpfer und sehen fast gleich aus; nur innen sind sie verschieden.
Was nicht darin ist
Ein Katalysator und sein Gehäuse. Dort sitzen Gewicht und Widerstand der zugelassenen Fassung, und sie wegzulassen ist der ganze Zweck dieses Rohrs.
Akrapovic veröffentlicht dazu keinen Gewichts- oder Leistungsvergleich, hier wird also nichts genannt. Was der Hersteller angibt, ist die Bauweise: Titan, ohne Katalysator.
Vier Namen, zwei Hubräume
Das Rohr deckt Monster 1200 und 1200 S, die stärkere Monster 1200 R und die kleinere Monster 821 ab. Ducati behielt die Abgasführung über den 1.198er und den 821er L-Twin bei, ein Rohr bedient also die Baureihe von 2014 bis 2020.
Es gibt eine dritte Möglichkeit
Akrapovic führt den Evolution-Krümmer als Alternative zu beiden Verbindungsrohren. Das ist die größere und teurere Änderung: Sie ersetzt den Abschnitt ab den Zylinderköpfen und nicht nur das Stück dahinter — und eine Genehmigung trägt sie ebenfalls nicht.
Von den dreien ist dieses Rohr der günstigste Weg zu einer Streckenanlage: der Dämpfer, den Sie ohnehin kaufen wollten, plus so wenig Rohr wie nötig, um ihn anzuschließen.
Der Klang
Ein Katalysator ist für sich genommen ein erheblicher Schalldämpfer, und ihn aus einem L-Twin zu nehmen verändert den Charakter der Anlage stärker, als die meisten Fahrer erwarten. Das ist die Ausführung, die gemeint ist, wenn davon die Rede ist, wie eine Akrapovic-Monster klingt.
Es ist auch der Grund, warum das Teil keine Genehmigung hat und auf die Rennstrecke gehört.
Zusammen kaufen
Dämpfer und Rohr sind getrennte Bestellungen. Wer allein vom Preis des Dämpfers ausgeht, rechnet zu knapp — und wer nur den Dämpfer bestellt, hat ein Motorrad, das sich nicht fahren lässt.
Zulassung
Keine. Dieses Produkt erfüllt die Abgasvorschriften für den Straßenverkehr nicht und nimmt dem Slip-On die Grundlage, auf der er genehmigt war.
