Die Carbonelemente dieser Bügel sind zum Wechseln gedacht. Akrapovic macht sie 2,5 mm dick und schreibt ausdrücklich, dass der Besitzer sie bei Beschädigung tauschen kann — das ist das Eingeständnis, dass die Aufgabe eines Schutzbügels darin besteht, beschädigt zu werden, und eine Konstruktion, die das ernst nimmt.

Ein Verschleißteil, das erneuert werden kann
Die meisten Schutzbügel sind eine einzige geschweißte Struktur. Ein Sturz, der sie zeichnet, zeichnet sie für die Lebensdauer des Motorrads — oder der ganze Satz kommt ab und wird ersetzt.
Hier sind die Kontaktflächen eigene Carbonplatten, die am Bügelgerüst verschraubt sind. Ein langsames Umfallen auf dem Parkplatz zeichnet das Carbon und nicht das Titan, und das Carbon lässt sich erneuern, ohne die Struktur anzurühren, die die Arbeit geleistet hat.
Fünfundzwanzig Millimeter Rohr
Akrapovic nennt den Rohrdurchmesser, was die meisten Hersteller nicht tun. 25-mm-Titan bei 3,02 kg für den Satz liegt rund 40 Prozent unter einer gleichwertigen Edelstahlkonstruktion, und die mechanische Festigkeit wird als unverändert angegeben.
An der R 1300 GS — einem Motorrad von 237 kg vor jedem Gepäckstück — sind anderthalb Kilogramm weniger tief und weit außen ein Gewinn, gerade an einer Maschine, deren Besitzer sie regelmäßig über ihre bequeme Grenze hinaus beladen.
Zehn Millimeter Flansch
Die Befestigungsflansche messen hier 10 mm gegen 8 mm bei den Sätzen der R 1250 GS, lasergeschnitten und anschließend bearbeitet. Akrapovic befestigt die Konstruktion teilweise am Fahrgestell, damit ein Aufprall über die Bügel verteilt wird, und gibt an, die Auslegung in wiederholten Versuchen und Verformungsanalysen bestätigt zu haben.
Die Adventure und Option 719
Akrapovic bestätigt zwei Dinge, die beim Konfigurieren einer neuen GS zählen: Der Satz passt an die R 1300 GS Adventure, und er verträgt sich mit BMW Option 719. Der zweite Punkt geht leicht unter — Option 719 ändert Zylinderkopfdeckel und Zierteile genau dort, wo ein oberer Schutzbügel vorbeikommen muss.
Zusatztaschen und Nebel- oder Zusatzscheinwerfer von BMW und anderen Herstellern lassen sich ebenfalls an den Bügeln befestigen.
Lassen Sie montieren
Akrapovic empfiehlt den Einbau durch eine Fachwerkstatt, was der Hersteller bei den meisten seiner Teile nicht schreibt. Die Bügel leiten Last in den Rahmen, und der Unterschied zwischen einer korrekten und einer ungefähren Montage zeigt sich erst an dem Tag, an dem es darauf ankommt.

Akrapovic schreibt, dass dieser Satz eine ABE-Typgenehmigung erfüllt. Das ist die Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis: keine Einzelabnahme, kein Eintrag in die Fahrzeugpapiere.
Man sollte das von den EG- und ECE-Typgenehmigungen unterscheiden, die die Auspuffanlagen dieses Katalogs tragen. Das sind europäische Instrumente; diese hier ist ausdrücklich deutsch und für einen deutschen Käufer die stärkere Stellung.
Schräglage unangetastet
Keine Einschränkung, wie bei den Sätzen der R 1250 GS. Ein Schutzbügel, der vor der Fußraste aufsetzt, ändert, wie das Motorrad gefahren werden kann — dieser tut das nicht.
