Kawasakis eigener Schalldämpfer wiegt an dieser ZX-10R-Generation 2,4 kg, und das ist für ein Literbike schon wenig. Akrapovic halbiert das. Von so einem niedrigen Ausgangswert auf 1,2 kg zu kommen ist schwerer, als einem schweren Tourer fünf Kilo abzunehmen, und es ist die Zahl, für die dieses Teil gekauft wird.

Die Hälfte von sehr wenig
Ein Prozentwert bedeutet bei verschiedenen Ausgangsgewichten Verschiedenes. Fünfzig Prozent von 2,4 kg sind 1,2 kg — eine kleinere absolute Ersparnis, als viele Anlagen dieses Katalogs schaffen, und eine schwerer zu erreichende, denn hier gab es keinen Katalysatorkasten und keinen Hitzeschutz zum Weglassen. Jedes Gramm kam aus dem Dämpfer selbst.
An einem 198 kg schweren Superbike liegt die Wirkung nicht in der Summe, sondern darin, wo die Masse saß: hoch und hinter der Hinterachse, genau dort, wo ein Motorrad beim Richtungswechsel am wenigsten Gewicht gebrauchen kann.
Genehmigt — aber lesen Sie, welche Genehmigung
Akrapovic verzeichnet für diesen Dämpfer eine EG-Typgenehmigung und eine US-EPA-Zulassung. Eine gesonderte ECE-Genehmigung, wie sie manche andere Anlage der Reihe zusätzlich trägt, ist nicht vermerkt.
Für die deutsche Zulassung zählt die EG-Typgenehmigung, und ein Eintrag in die Fahrzeugpapiere ist nicht nötig. Es ist eine Typgenehmigung und keine ABE; die Papiere im Karton sind das, was ein Prüfer sehen will.
Hitzeschutz und Verbindungsrohr
Akrapovic gibt unmissverständlich an, dass sich der optionale Hitzeschutz nicht montieren lässt, wenn dieser Slip-On mit dem optionalen Verbindungsrohr kombiniert wird. Beides sind eigene Zubehörteile, und wer alle drei kaufen will, sollte wissen, dass zwei davon einander ausschließen.
Das ist die Sorte Detail, die sonst erst auffällt, wenn das Paket schon da ist.
Wo die Zahlen landen
Von 179,3 PS auf 180,3 und von 104,4 Nm auf 104,5, wobei die verzeichneten Zuwächse von 1,7 PS und 1,3 Nm beide bei 9.400/min liegen. An einer Maschine, die ohnehin 180 PS leistet, ist das ein Rundungsfehler, und diese Seite tut nicht so, als wäre es etwas anderes.
Die Gründe für den Einbau sind das Kilogramm, der Klang und wie ein Titantopf dort aussieht, wo Kawasaki Stahl verbaut hat.
Ein Einsatz für die Strecke
Ein herausnehmbarer dB-Einsatz gehört zum Lieferumfang. Die ZX-10R dieser Generation ist ein verbreitetes Trackday-Motorrad, und Strecken, die das Standgeräusch messen, sind der Grund, warum es den Einsatz gibt.

Kawasaki baute diese ZX-10R-Generation von 2011 bis zur Überarbeitung 2016. Eine Artikelnummer deckt alles davon ab. Das sind heute Gebrauchtmotorräder, oft in zweiter oder dritter Hand und häufiger auf der Strecke als auf der Straße.
