Der Krümmer, der keinen neuen Dämpfer braucht
Die meisten Optional Header funktionieren nur mit einem passenden Zubehördämpfer. Dieser ist anders: Akrapovic gibt an, dass er mit dem Serienschalldämpfer verwendet werden kann — ebenso wie mit den hoch und tief montierten Akrapovic-Anlagen, die Indian ab Werk oder als Zubehör liefert.
Damit ist er der seltene Krümmer, den man allein montieren kann. Wer als FTR-Halter den Serienschalldämpfer mag, behält ihn und bekommt trotzdem 4 kg und den Zuwachs unten herum.
Indians Flat-Track-Twin
Die FTR 1200 hat die Motorarchitektur von Indians Flat-Track-Rennmaschinen in ein Straßenmotorrad gesetzt — 1.203 cm³, ein 60-Grad-V2 und ein Charakter, der um den Zug aus der Kurve herum gebaut ist und nicht um Höchstgeschwindigkeit.
Ein Krümmer, der 9,4 Nm bei 4.680/min drauflegt, arbeitet mit diesem Charakter statt gegen ihn. Vier Kilogramm an einem tief und mittig sitzenden Bauteil senken zudem den Schwerpunkt einer Maschine, die von Haus aus nicht leicht ist.
Dreiundsiebzig Prozent
Indians Serienkrümmeranlage wiegt 5,46 kg — eine schwere Stahlkonstruktion mit integriertem Katalysator. Sie durch 1,45 kg Titan zu ersetzen ist die zweitgrößte anteilige Ersparnis in diesem Katalog, nur der BMW-S-1000-Krümmer liegt darüber.
Eine kurze Bauzeit
Indian hat die FTR 1200 in dieser Ausführung zwei Modelljahre gebaut, bevor sie 2021 mit anderen Rädern, niedrigerer Sitzbank und geänderter Abgasführung überarbeitet wurde. Dieser Krümmer deckt allein die Maschinen von 2019 und 2020 ab.
Das sind heute Gebrauchtmotorräder, und ihre Halter behalten sie meist. Ein Titankrümmer an einer FTR ist eine Anschaffung auf Dauer und keine Wiederverkaufsentscheidung — und weil der Serienschalldämpfer daneben weiterverwendet werden kann, ist der Einstieg günstiger als bei fast jedem anderen Motorrad in diesem Katalog.
Sechzig Minuten
Der V2 der FTR lässt beide Auslasskanäle von der Seite erreichen, während das Motorrad auf dem Ständer steht, und der Serienkrümmer kommt in einem Stück heraus. Eine Stunde ist für eine kundige Werkstatt realistisch.
