Ein Satz im Kleingedruckten
Die Racing Line dieser Yamahas ist typgenehmigt, mit einer einzigen Einschränkung: Die Bescheinigung gilt, solange ein Katalysator in der Anlage bleibt. Nimmt man ihn heraus, greift die Einschränkung.
Eine straßentaugliche MT-07 braucht also beide Nummern auf derselben Rechnung. Wer für mehr Durchfluss den Katalysator weglässt, macht aus einer genehmigten Anlage sofort und dauerhaft eine reine Streckenanlage.
Ersatz, nicht nur Aufwertung
Zehn Jahre sind eine lange Standzeit für ein Bauteil, das mehrmals wöchentlich rotglühend wird. Träger reißen unter wiederholter Erwärmung; eine Phase mit zu viel Kraftstoff verglast die Beschichtung, und nichts holt sie zurück.
Was ein Besitzer bemerkt, ist ein hohles Loch oben heraus, ein loses Klappern unter dem Motor oder der Ausdruck der Prüfstelle. Nichts davon lässt sich mit dem Auge feststellen — und genau deshalb kauft man keinen gebrauchten.
Edelmetall, unsichtbar aufgebracht
Innen liegt eine Wabe aus dünner Metallfolie, und über ihre Fläche zieht sich eine Washcoat-Schicht mit Palladium, Rhodium und Platin. Dort geschieht die Chemie: Giftiges Gas hinein, Kohlendioxid und Wasserdampf hinaus.
Diese Metalle bestimmen den Preis, und keines davon ist zu sehen. Genau deshalb zählt bei so einem Teil die Herkunft.
Auf die Anlage bemessen, nicht aufs Regal
Jeder Katalysator behindert. Akrapovics Anspruch ist, die eigenen so zu bemessen, dass sie so wenig behindern, wie die Abgasprüfung zulässt — damit die Anlage darum herum weiter so arbeitet, wie sie ausgelegt ist.

Der Motor, der sich überall verkauft hat
Der 689-cm³-CP2-Twin gehört zu den verbreitetsten Motoren auf europäischen Straßen, und die MT-07 ist seit 2014 ein Bestseller. Die Teileversorgung dafür zählt mehr als bei den meisten Maschinen, schlicht weil es so viele gibt.
Ein Bauteil, keine Anlage
In der Packung liegt ein einzelner Katalysator. Sonst nichts — kein Dämpfer, kein Krümmersatz, kein Verbindungsrohr. Er schließt eine Montage ab, die etwas anderes begonnen hat.
Acht Modelljahre

Zulassung
Für diesen Katalysator ist eine EG-Zulassung verzeichnet. In der Racing Line verbaut, ist er die Grundlage dafür, dass diese Anlage auf öffentlicher Straße legal bleibt.
