Was ein Hitzeschild leistet
Er sitzt zwischen Abgasanlage und Bein des Fahrers, und seine Aufgabe ist es, den heißen Teil der Anlage von Haut und Kleidung fernzuhalten. Jedes Motorrad mit einem Dämpfer nahe am Bein hat einen, und an den meisten ist es ein gestanztes Aluminiumblech in Schwarz.
Ihn gegen Carbon zu tauschen ändert an der Funktion nichts und am Auftritt der Anlage einiges. Ein Titan- oder Carbondämpfer mit einem schwarzen Alublech daneben wirkt halbfertig — und genau dafür gibt es dieses Teil.
Die Hauptständerfrage
Suzukis GX ist die hohe Crossover-Fassung dieser Plattform und die, an der am ehesten der Werks-Hauptständer sitzt — ein sinnvolles Zubehör an einem Reisemotorrad. Ständer und Schild beanspruchen überlappenden Bauraum.

In Handarbeit, nicht umwickelt
Akrapovic gibt das Carbon als handgefertigt an. Bei einem so kleinen Teil ist das der Unterschied zwischen einem geformten Bauteil, dessen Gewebe der Form folgt, und einem mit Tuch umwickelten Rohr — auf Armlänge sichtbar, und der Grund, warum ein Carbonschild kostet, was er kostet.
Zubehör, keine Voraussetzung
Akrapovic führt dieses Teil als Zubehör, und das Wort trifft zu: Die Slip-On Line ist auch ohne ihn vollständig und legal. Den Schild kaufen Halter, die wollen, dass die Anlage wie ein gestaltetes Bauteil aussieht und nicht wie ein Dämpfer mit dem schwarzen Werksblech daneben.
Vier Motorräder
GSX-S1000, der Sporttourer GT, die Retro-Katana und die hohe GX teilen sich diesen Schild — dieselben vier Maschinen, die auch die Slip-On Line abdeckt. Allein die GX trägt die Hauptständer-Einschränkung.
Carbon gegen Titan
Die Slip-On Line dieser Maschinen hat eine Titanhülle, und Titan dunkelt nach und nimmt mit der Hitze Farbe an. Ein Carbonschild daneben bleibt schwarz — die beiden Werkstoffe gleichen sich nicht an, sie kontrastieren, und das ist die beabsichtigte Wirkung.
