Sechshundert Gramm für ein Hitzeschild
Das ist eine bemerkenswerte Zahl für etwas, das im Kern eine Platte ist. Ducatis Original ist ein kräftiges Stahlpressteil mit eigenem Halterahmen, groß genug, um die beiden Austritte vom Bein eines Sozius fernzuhalten — und es wiegt mehr, als manche Anlage dieses Katalogs insgesamt spart.
Ein halbes Kilogramm wird nicht ändern, wie sich eine 209 kg schwere Monster fährt. Es ist aber ein halbes Kilogramm weniger für den Preis eines guten Abendessens und fünf Minuten Arbeit, und das ist ein ungewöhnlich effizienter Tausch.
Fünf Minuten
Akrapovic gibt fünf Minuten an, und das ist die kürzeste Montagezeit im ganzen Katalog. Zwei Schrauben, altes Schild ab, neues dran, fertig, bevor das Wasser kocht.
Nichts einzustellen, kein kritisches Drehmoment, kein Grund für einen Werkstatttermin.
Vier Namen, zwei Motoren
Das Schild deckt Monster 1200 und 1200 S, die 1200 R und die kleinere 821 ab. Ducati verwendete über den 1.198er und den 821er L-Twin dasselbe Heck und dieselbe Dämpferposition, ein Teil bedient also die ganze Familie von 2014 bis 2020.
Wo es sitzt
Hoch rechts, unter dem Heck und direkt auf dem Dämpfer. An einer Monster — einem Motorrad ohne Verkleidung, hinter der sich etwas verbergen ließe — ist das eine der sichtbarsten Flächen der Maschine.
Eine gewebte Carbonplatte liest sich dort als Teil der Anlage. Das serienmäßige Stahlteil liest sich als Halter, den jemand hinzufügen musste.
Was es nicht ändert
Leistung, Drehmoment, Klang und Zulassung bleiben genau, wie sie waren. Das ist ein Gewichts- und Optikteil, und das Gewicht lohnt sich nach den Maßstäben seiner Warengruppe, nicht nach denen des Motorrads.
Passt zum Slip-On
Das Schild ist um die Akrapovic-Anlage dieser Maschinen herum konstruiert. Neben dem Titan-Slip-On und seinem Verbindungsrohr montiert, rundet es die Sache ab; am Ducati-Serienschalldämpfer ist die Geometrie eine andere.
Ein alternder Twin
Die Monster von 2014 bis 2020 ist heute ein Gebrauchtmotorrad, und ein gepflegtes Exemplar gehört jemandem, der sich entschieden hat, es zu behalten statt zu ersetzen. Genau in dieses Besitzmuster passt eine Verbesserung von fünf Minuten und einem halben Kilo.
