The SuperSport 939 arrived for 2017 as Ducati's faired twin for riders who want sporty handling without a racing crouch, and many owners use it for long summer tours with a passenger or luggage. Summer has a hazard of its own: the first shower after weeks of dry, hot weather. While the roads stay dry, oil, rubber and dust build up on the tarmac, and the first rain turns that film into something very slippery until enough water has fallen to wash it away. Accossato lists the PF049 front axle sliders for the SuperSport 939 of 2017 and 2018.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds the PF049 from aluminium and plastic and delivers it in black, a slider for each side of the front wheel. The kit contains, in Accossato's words, the spacers, screws and all parts needed for mounting. On the SuperSport 939, their job is to make the first contact with the road if the bike slides or topples, which can reduce the damage to the fork and the front axle area. They are made to be used up, and one that has taken a hard knock is exchanged for a new one without a second thought.
The First Shower After a Dry Spell
The signs are easy to read once you know them: a rainbow sheen on the tarmac, spray that looks greasy, a smell of wet dust. Slow down at once and ride the SuperSport 939 as smoothly as you can, braking early and gently with the bike upright, and opening the throttle progressively out of bends. Painted lines, metal covers and the centre of the lane, where cars drip oil, lose grip first, as do junctions and roundabouts, where vehicles stand and pull away. On a tour in southern Europe, where rain can be rare for weeks, the first storm of the season is often the most slippery. If the shower is short and heavy, a coffee stop is a sensible choice: after a while the rain washes the worst away, and the road gives back much of its grip. A passenger should know the plan too, so that they sit still and lean with you. After a slide or a slow fall, check the sliders and the levers before you continue.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the PF049 for the SuperSport 939 of 2017 and 2018, and we have linked it to those years; the list ends there, so please ask us before ordering for a later SuperSport 939. No other Accossato protection part is listed for this model. The same front sliders are catalogued in our shop for the Monster 821, the Monster 797 and the Monster 1200. After fitting, tighten the screws as the workshop manual specifies, turn the bars from lock to lock and spin the front wheel to confirm that nothing rubs, then check again after the first ride.
