Die Multistrada 1260 S D|Air ist ein Motorrad, das um Schutz herum gebaut ist. Ihre Elektronik ist dafür vorbereitet, mit einer passenden Airbag-Bekleidung des Fahrers zusammenzuarbeiten, sodass die Jacke aufblasen kann, sobald das System einen Sturz erkennt. Das schützt den Menschen. Für sich selbst besitzt das Motorrad kein solches System, und viele der Stürze, die es im Laufe seines Lebens erlebt, passieren im Schritttempo, auf einem abschüssigen Parkplatz oder einem Schotterstreifen, wo es sich schlicht auf die Seite legt. Für die Multistrada 1260 S D|Air von 2018 führt Accossato den PF05, zwei schwarze Achsprotektoren vorne.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
Accossato fertigt den PF05 aus Aluminium und Kunststoff und verkauft ihn als Paar schwarzer Protektoren. Nach eigener Beschreibung liegen dem Set die Distanzstücke, die Schrauben und alle weiteren für die Montage nötigen Teile bei. Die Protektoren sind das schlichte, mechanische Gegenstück zur Elektronik der Multistrada 1260 S D|Air. Fällt das Motorrad, sollen sie als erster Teil vorne den Boden berühren, was den Schaden an Gabel und Vorderradbereich verringern kann. Sie sind zum Verbrauch gedacht, und ein Protektor, der einen harten Schlag abbekommen hat, wird ersetzt.
