DescriptionThe whole story▼
Yamaha's YZF-R7 is a twin-cylinder sports bike built around the engine of the MT-07, and it quickly became a familiar sight at track days and in club racing. Racing is hard on front discs, and a race weekend begins with scrutineering, where the brakes are among the first things checked. Accossato's DK077 is a floating Elite front disc listed for the R7 of 2022. It measures 298 mm across and 5 mm thick, has a 132 mm bore and a black carrier, and its rivets carry the Accossato logo.
Key Features
- Elite floating front disc for the Yamaha YZF-R7
- Listed by Accossato for the 2022 model year
- 298 mm diameter, 132 mm bore, 5 mm thick
- Thickness as the original disc, according to Accossato
- Black carrier; logo on the rivets
- Minimum working thickness printed on the ring
- Price per disc; the R7 has two front discs
- No German ABE documented; for the track
Construction and Material Quality
Riveted to a black carrier, the friction ring of the DK077 floats: it can expand with heat and settle between the pads while the carrier stays true on the wheel. The logo on each rivet marks the disc as part of Accossato's Elite line, which keeps the original thickness of 5 mm. Accossato bases its designs on experience in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 and says the reduced weight of its discs helps a bike change direction. Like all Accossato discs, it shows its minimum working thickness on the ring.
Ready for Scrutineering
Before a race or a club track day, scrutineers look at the brakes of every bike that enters. What they want to see on an R7 is straightforward: discs within their wear limit and free of cracks, enough pad material, no fluid leaks, and caliper bolts secured as the organiser requires. Prepare for that at home rather than in the paddock queue. Measure both discs, compare them with the printed minimum and look closely at the area around the rivets and the outer edge for cracks. Fit new pads well before the event and bed them in, because pads that go straight from the box into the first session need several laps to work properly. Change the brake fluid before the season starts. On the day itself, check pad wear between sessions, since racing can use pads up faster than you expect.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK077 for the YZF-R7 of 2022 only, the model entered as YZF 700 R7; later R7s are not on the list. The R7 has two front discs, and the price covers one. Accossato offers a second disc for the same bike, the DKS073, identical in size, and for the clutch it lists the ESY688 lever.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no type approval are documented for the DK077, which matches its intended use: racing and track days.
Scope of Delivery
One DK077 Elite floating disc with black carrier; for the R7's front wheel order two.
